21st century skills- pathway to careers of future

Because you may have academic qualification which may be relevant now, but by the year 2030 the world is going to be so different, the current jobs might not be relevant at that moment of time. Which means that if somebody is learning something academically or technically as well, that may be relevant now, but may not be relevant forever. So which means that learning something new, keep the learning habit is going to be very important with respect to skill development

As you say, though we cannot quite anticipate technology that's going to come in a few years. We can prepare for career of success by focusing on the fundamental skills that are required to navigate these fast changing landscapes. Mostly these are, of course, the soft skills that can be applied in a variety of settings. So I would like to hear you talk more about these in detail because so, yeah, looking forward to that and thank you for this

Because one thing I'm not hopeful for from everything I've observed okay, like, again, I can be extremely wrong. And there's no point in generalizing, things like this is just like how children have become more aware, the kind of meddling that has been displayed by parents in regards of I'm not talking about parents in general. I'm talking about new age parents, right? Where they won't let teachers teach, they won't let educators educate, et cetera, et cetera

So the concept of learning and relearning and upskilling is true not just for our young children but also for all of us. Because the world is changing rapidly and it will continue to rapidly change. That's one part, second part. Just imagine if we are adding 1.5 billion people from now till 2050. Which is almost equivalent to countries population which is equal to let's say China or India and all these growth of population is going to come in major part of Africa

And I see less of that happening in our society where people want to have an insurance policy of success that if I do these five things then chances are we'll get a better salary. That is not the end goal to get a better salary, make a bigger impact. Should have been the goal somewhere that is lost in this discussion. But happy to hear your thoughts, happy to collaborate

Our high schools are a joke, our college education is a joke. Even our masters programs are okay. They start using western case studies and everything, but they are very inadequate. So I'm sorry, but I'll have to disagree with you on the optimism thing. I'm not pessimistic. I'm grateful for people like Doctor and hopefully things will change. Alright, bye

And coincidentally, 2030 also marks the remarkable change with respect to the way the world is going to be because there will be much more number of people around us and the technology, the way it is developing, it is exponentially developing. So these two impacts will bring out a very complex situation which we do not even know

@avichand

Till the time the Britishes actually came into India and they brought in this formal education where they wanted to bring out people who could actually serve in their offices or in their organizations. So possibly the current education system what we have is something which actually is originated by the Britishes when they came into India and their main objective was to bring out people who can do nor career. So it was never really aligned to really create scientists and people who will actually do something new for the world

You need to be aware of what's going on around you before you can innovate. And I think that's why Western countries are so far ahead of us, or even China is so far ahead of us. Because especially if you look at the west, the average youngster is so much more aware of the world. The average smart I'm not saying every youngster in the west is aware of the world. The average smart, college going adult in the US

@BasTalk

Metaphorically. Look at a country like usual and look at how smart those people are, and they openly discuss and intelligently and intellectually discuss topics that are of importance to the society. To have a rich society. Look at Finnland, which has the best education system in the world. So all these countries are so far ahead of India that it's inconceivable that we'll be able to catch up with them even in the next 20 years. Forget Finland, Norway, New Zealand

Okay, just to sort of sum up my blah, you know, we need to create a generation of intellectual enlightened kids, which is what the Americans try to do. Which is what the British try to do. But our emphasis seems to be on creating a generation of successful people doctors, lawyers, engineers. So that emphasis has to shift. We need to work to create a generation of intellectually enlightened kids who read, who are aware of the world, who are sensitive to the future

I would, you know, overstep a little bit and suggest a book. I think you might enjoy it. It's called factfulness by Dr. Chand roseni. One thing that I find missing from a lot of these conversations is and this is coming from a place of someone who's ignorant, someone who operates in a volunteer capacity, most of these projects that happen. So that is I'm stating my cognitive bias there

@avichand my optimism lies in the shift from collectivism to individualism. We technically agree :)

And that is something that a lot of people are part of the education sector are trying to capitalize on with companies like Virus and Academy and whatnot. Unsuccessfully, might I add. They are not doing anything nice, in my opinion. But that's entirely different discussion. My thing is this shift, I'm very optimistic about the shift from the collective to the individualistic. I think that is where critical thinking begins

Thank you so much Dr. Mr for your advice I completely agree with you that we need to focus more on technical skills rather chand. You know. Theoretical knowledge we have to have practical knowledge like currently I am studying you human resource so I try my best to gain practical knowledge about it by reading business magazines. Newspapers. Et cetera so your spell really motivates me and it's really helpful thank you so much
