Interests tend to be fluid as we get older

article image placeholderUploaded by @SoulJourney1K
But I don't know. In my late thirty s and in my forty s I really, really love Japanese comics. But yeah, let me know if you've noticed that your interests have changed over the years. And how do you feel about that. Once again, this is Erica at Souljourney One. K and I hope you have a great day or evening

In the realm of creative projects, I shouldn't use the word distracted, but definitely I just feel like such a renaissance woman sometimes when I want to just try this medium or that medium, especially in art. But you meet so many different people when you change your interests as well. And then through those relationships, you discover parts of yourself and you see all these things that you didn't get to play in these sandboxes and you're like, wow, this is really fun

Now that I'm in my mid 50s, I'm still pursuing the same kind of performing arts and being creative on stage that I was as a younger person. That hasn't changed. And I wonder if it's because in theater and in performance, there's always a great variety. But if you had told me when I was a young struggling actor that someday I would enjoy singing in front of people, I'd be like, no way, not me

Hey, thank you for responding. DB that's really true what you said. When you change your interests or when you add on interest, you meet new people. And I noticed that when I started loom knitting in 2018. I started sharing my ear cushions with people on the job. And there were people who I never even met before who heard about me, and they will come over and strike a conversation with me. And this was interesting because I'm pretty much to myself

There's so much that you actually get involved in when you're talking about your health and things like that, that if you think of it only as the disease, you can actually find yourself trapped. And I guess what I would say in the jail or the prison of I am what this disease has made me and that's just not true

Hey, Foo, I really appreciate your response and your relationship to your own body and the science of what's impacting you right now besides the terror of cancer. I'm blown away by your attitude and your generosity to share it here and your generosity of spirit in general and responding to this swell. I think we're all just in reflection about what it means to be curious and to be kind of delighted and entertained by our own interests and how we shift and change

I have to remember there are people who are going through more complex situations than myself, and many of them don't have the stance that you have. Many of them take their body illnesses as the end, and it's not. It's an opportunity, and we just have to wrap our minds around that. It's an opportunity to learn more. So thank you for sharing that and thank you for listening to my swellcast

And at that age we always choose a field where we're helping other people. But now, sadly, in a society now we choose things more so that's helping ourselves. So I say that in a sense where a lot of tim we forget what it's like to be a kid
