The Dark Side of Woke😳Or How "Woke" Is Too " Woke"?

article image placeholderUploaded by @SoulJourney1K
That's not the way you should think. And this and that. Sometimes I believe we can study so hard and just get so what's the word? We could just get so carried away with all this knowledge that we no longer see people anymore. We just start to see facts and figures, trials, tribulations, and we begin to kind of snap at each other. Now, granted, given the history of certain people, it's not rainbows and clouds. It's not peaches and creams

But how can you blame a person who is starting to realize that race and identity and culture is in the fabric of almost every aspect of media that we consume, religion that we praise and worship and government that we elect to govern us? I am not trying to say there is no such thing as too woke, there certainly is

Other races have experienced it, but we're the ones that are speaking out the most about it. And so we bring a lot of that attention to ourselves. It's not so much that other folks are putting a spotlight on it. We're putting a spotlight on it. And yes, even other cultures that experience slavery, I noticed that in South American nations, central American nations, they acknowledge that there is Afro descent in their people

@SoulJourney1K "SLEEP TALKING" bs " CHRIST WALKING" " HEAL= "HE" Always LOVE" #HEALFORREAL ❤️

We are so focused on what they did. We can't see what he did. We're so focused on our voices being heard by man that we cannot hear the voice of God, christ Himself. Again, I am a Christian. That is my stand. And my savior was beaten. My savior was mocked. My savior was placed on a cross. An innocent man doing nothing. But he beared it all. He said nothing. Why?

@MsColes77 Thank You💯❤️ The "WAKE UP "

So, yeah, we have to start right there in our families, but we have to also admit, sometimes in our community, I want to be seen, because also in our community, there's a lot of neglect in being seen. So once you get a chance to be seen, you want to be seen. So that's what it's mainly focused on. So I believe some of this is just, I want to be seen again

And I think you've spoken on that very well. So, yeah, there should never be any problems or any chains, so to speak, placed around someone who's trying to learn about themselves, especially being in America. America has a very wild, bloody, chaotic history, so we can't fault ourselves for awakening to what the truth really is. So, yeah, I actually appreciate your passionate feedback and I hope to hear more from you

Granted, as you've mentioned, other people are going through stuff, and we're definitely not the only ones, which is why it's so important to do our own research. When I picked up Destruction of the Black Civilization, it was very eye opening. There's a lot that I did not know that got the ball rolling to where we're at today. But studying it has opened up my eyes to a lot of things

Not to say that studying our culture is a bad thing or a negative thing that should never be a bad thing. However, we just need to check ourselves every once in a while to be sure that it's not brewing into a sort of hatred that gets our blood pressure up and causes us to be hateful to each other and to other people. Take me, for example

Me, personally, if I'm fully awoke, if I'm fully awake, do I want to go back to sleep because I'm put into a certain space to make other people feel comfortable. They're fully awoke. They're fully awake. They are fully awake. But I have to sleep around them because I don't want to latch out. I don't know how to control my emotion. I don't know if I want to live in the world like that. I don't know

But, yeah, I certainly don't want to go around just making people comfortable. And I certainly understand that the truth hurts. This is why some people are asleep and prefer to stay sleep, because when you learn that after 20 years or 30 years or 40 years that this is how you received your belief, it can be shocking to the system. It can be shocking to your system. So they put on the rose colored glasses and move along. And I get it

But I can understand your concern around people trying to use the skills and knowledge that they have read or attained around social justice issues, not to actually do any substantive work, but just to be the center of attention and be seen, which is not helpful. So thank you for this. Well, and I look forward to dialoguing with

So I feel like it's so much to this type of conversation, but there's a great deal of a lack of reading and a lack of our opinions that now plague us

And that's why, like I said in the previous message on Here, the idea that we don't understand how important activism is and how you have to be responsible because you're essentially playing with the structure and the formation of communities. And I think we've just completely lost that

And I definitely stand on that, especially amidst what the Governor of Florida is doing with deleting and erasing our words and history because he finds it offensive and he gets on the defensive. And even recently, with the poet laureate Gorman, her book is being taken off of school shelf simply because of how one parent feels. So if there's any time for us to be awake awoke, it's definitely now with no apologies. So that's where I'm at

Hey, 79th street. Wow. This is this is why I really love this podcast topic, because I'm getting so many different but refreshing perspectives on this. And I really enjoyed your perspective because a lot of us are talking. It's so much noise, media noise going on. And I agree with you. I enjoy DL Hooley's post as well as the growth and change in Charlemagne
