I feel invisible

article image placeholderUploaded by @soulcruzer
But then I suppose it's like going to a big party or going to somewhere where there's a huge amount of people that you don't and you don't know anyone, so you could be in a room, not alone, but lonely. And that's what made me think about this interconnectedness that we have on with the Internet and social media and email and just all these ways that we can stay in contact and be in contact with people or connect with, likeminded, folks and groups

Thanks for the reply, Joshua. And definitely I think it's that bigness, isn't it? Like you're in the world and you're saying hi. And the way that the social media platforms build themselves up is about connecting. And if you're in the space and feel like you can't connect, it can potentially have that feeling of, what am I doing wrong? Especially if, you know, like if you take, for instance, you take these influencer, right?

Even on an Instagram post, if you have written something and you've written a little bit something about how you feel about something, the most you might get is one off comment from a bunch of different people. So it's not really a conversation

So you're speaking and there's nobody there. Almost. Yeah, well, like the title of this, it's like you're invisible. You see that there's all these people on these platforms. You speak and nobody hears you. Yeah, and that's the thing, I think that heightens the sense of loneliness that potentially creates the anxiety, because you're shouting into the void metaphorically and literally, I guess, you just put some stuff out there and you get nothing back

And I was like, I remember, like, what, you can add posts and pictures and stuff like that, and everyone, you know, can see it. It was like, amazing. And then we were all putting all sorts of stuff up, fun stuff where we were, what we were doing, everybody's posting it. And then that got boring, right? And then it turned toxic, didn't it?
