One Step Closer to Swell

article image placeholderUploaded by @Soniyaam_198
I kept on writing. I kept on posting. The response from people grew over a period of time. It took some time for people to recognize me and my writing and to take me seriously as an author. So the entire journey has been such a learning experience and such a humbling experience because I'm grateful for everything that I have, every person that I have in my life and every opportunity that I've got up until now. Yeah. Now I finally like you can say

Next question. What do I think makes a good story? Well, that's a very subjective question because the definition of good varies from one person to another. What's good for me might not not be good enough for someone else and vice versa. I think what most people try to do is they try to write things what they think will impress other people. They try to please others and formulate their writings or their stories in a way where they think will be more appealing to the people

Okay, next question. What books or which authors have influenced my writing? My writing style is sort of a contemporary style. I mean, I like to write about love, life, relationship, ships, failures, mistakes, all the dark corners that no one likes to visit. I like to write about that because we as human beings need to address those as well. We make mistakes. We fail

Okay, next question. Which book is currently on my bedside table? There's one book that I always make sure that is on my bedside table, whether I'm reading it on a daily basis or not. I have read that book multiple times and I always revisit on revisit that book on occasional basis. And that book is Ikegae. I'm pretty sure most of our listeners are already aware of this book and almost everyone has read it already

Okay, next question. What advice would I give someone who is just starting out as a writer? Honestly, just go out and do it? I mean, I know it's easier said than done, but I've spent majority of my time thinking and over thinking about what will my friends say, what will my family say? Or will people even like it? Or will anybody even read it?

And then I realized that is one of my quality, my talent. So how much time does it take? We can't say, but we will find that latent talent in ourselves one day or the another

@yashi.guptaa

Yes, I would definitely agree with you. And yeah, as you said that there's no distinct or prefixed moment where you'll find your talent but the only thing that you can do is keep on consistent and persistently working towards it. Just try to keep on getting better and better. Read more books, read more poems, whatever it is that you like. Keep on just doing and working for it and don't calculate results or expect a specific result out of any of your actions

Hi Soniya. As somebody who's aspiring to be a writer myself, what would your advice be for me to find my style of writing? How did you go through your journey and what are some tips that you would like to impart

@aishwaryasunil_

I realized, okay, these are the things that I want to talk about. And most importantly, you need to know, what are you passionate about, like through your writing? What do you want to inform or let the world know? What is the message that you want to give out from your writing? So I could see myself doing that in a similar manner as precision noise, which is why after reading all these different authors, I finally focused on reading a lot of her books

@Jiya_07

Hi Jiya, what you said is absolutely correct. It is important to show the world the talent that you have, but at the same time, it is also important to keep on working and polishing your talent. Keep on learning every single day. The day you stop learning, meaning is the day you stop growing. And also you might come across instances where people might not take your work seriously or might even brush it off as a casual thing. But don't let that hamper your spirit
