Women in Leadership: Kamala Harris

article image placeholderBiden Harris 2020 by Rom Matibag
And for our very first assignment, we had to read a Harvard Business Review article called Women Score Higher than Men in Most Leadership Skills. I will, of course, link this article, but I want to point out some highlights. Firstly, I want to talk about the impacts of implicit bias

The fight to get more women in power doesn’t stop here https://bit.ly/3p4yv8G

What inspires me

We also saw Vermont Taylor Small elected to the House of Representatives and also Stephanie Byers made Kansas history as the first trans person of color to ever be elected to a state legislature. Marie Turner is also the first non binary state legislature and the first Muslim lawmaker in Oklahoma. We still obviously have a long way to go, but I feel so inspired just these stories of a more diverse young leadership happening in the United States right now

Individual growth vs growth as a society. @Izzy @bowie

Sure, they've morphed over the centuries. But there are still some very deeply rooted ideas. And so we have to fight against all that culture has carried forward, what our parents have believed, what society has influenced us to believe. And so we fight that through a good portion of our lives. But it's a journey of gaining knowledge, experience, and the resiliency of understanding that we are more than what we may have been led to believe

1st woman Prez? First names vs last. @Izzy

This sort of seems like a tangent, but bear with me. I watched most of the inauguration today, and Biden seemed far more frail to me than I thought, like we've had questions about his health, his mental acuity, and so on. But it seemed to be really in the forefront today, at least for me. And so I wonder if we might see Kamala as President sooner than expected
