Language and the Metaverse - Will it be all Greek?

article image placeholderUploaded by @shortswithsapna
So, for instance, music concerts and consumer brand launches in the Metaverse have been happening, and that's kind of old news. More recently, a South Korean university held their entrance ceremony in the hugely popular Minecraft. Bill Gates has gone as far as to say that virtual meetings of the future will overwhelmingly be conducted in 3D environments instead of the 2D windows we are used to today

Sure, the Metaverse promises to bring the world together, but how do we address language barriers? #metaverse #language #words #AI

My response to you is more about the comment you made that less the low rate of option for the or Facebook meta was and you said you'll talk about it in some other stuff so please do invite me to that. I really am curious to know what the reasons behind that are and what do you think about where it is headed and is it going require a whole new strategy from Facebook or they're just going to keep at it?

The other thing that you said is I mentioned in this well, not that the meta verse is not being adopted, Facebook's meta verse, but Horizon Worlds, which is Facebook's immersive meta verse environment. So Horizon Worlds actually has set itself a much larger target and their performance has been rather underwhelming. So I think there's a statistic that says Meta themselves lowered their Horizon World's monthly active user target from five lakh to two lakh 80

Labelling bias

For example, if there is someone who is a vegetarian and he's in charge of labeling all the nonvegetarian objects in an image, will there be a space for personal bias that might creep in? Like not just saying actual definition of the image, but the associated tags with the image. And I'm just giving a food related example with as the first one that came to my mind, but I guess you get the drift

So if I were to invest, I think, what was it, $1,000 or something in the VR gear and everything, and I go into the meteors, the tilty thing is going to flock on me so quickly because my internet won't be able to support it when this conversation happens. I think what people largely ignore is the scalability issue

Binati Hai, I think you make a couple of extremely valid points here, and thank you for adding to this. Well, see, there are I agree with you that there is a long way to go before we can truly democratize technology, but I understand it's an important Iterative process and it's a journey and it's going to take everyone's time. The other thing you said, very importantly, is that there's a lot of adoption resistance, even to 2D meetings for now

And when you talk about language in the growth, adoption, introduction, in fact, every stage of any technology, language is integral to the way it grows, to the future of the product itself. So, excellent point and maybe we should do a more extensive swell going forward on the role of language throughout and how we can mitigate the risks that come with it
