Empaths may not be the epitome of the empathetic human, despite belief.

Or if someone begins to cry and you begin to tear up, or when you see those videos of someone on a subway train starts to laugh, and then the giggles and the titters start to spread, right? And suddenly everyone's giggling. Or once one person yawns and another person yawns, these are examples of the mirror neurons in action. And I do think that empaths have heightened mirror neurons, but there's this other kind of empathy that requires reflection, thought, and exercising of these muscles

When a woman tells me that she's an empath, I find more and more that they are actually empaths. That's just it. I don't know what you would cognitive. And it's interesting you bring up the cognitive aspect of empathy because I had to develop that. I don't know. I had to develop both. I don't think I was really even born empathetic to people because I've had to just work and grind and just blah, blah, blah

So, like you said, you've seen it in men, where they can say some hurtful things, too, while being empathetic, supposedly. And I've seen it with women. So you reminded me of a video I'd seen about three years ago. I'll put a link here. And it was a hot take by one therapist and then a response by a counselor

You are such a brilliant and loving human being, plum. Sorry I started coughing. We've talked. I understand what you're going through right now in your life, but you have a powerful voice, and I'm so happy that you have. Okay, I'm ready. Sorry, dinner is ready. You have a powerful voice. You're intelligent, you're well spoken, you are a true empathetic

@RoosterCollins

Because I think to some extent, the things that I've learned around neurowiring are really tap into what it is to be human. And I think everybody can benefit from some of these things. Anyway. I'm heartened to know warm fuzzies to know that. That the things that I've shared are helpful for you. Thank you again

I think it does show your heart, because I think that knowledge and wisdom is a gift. It can be earned through hard work. But true wisdom and knowledge is a gift, and you have that because true wisdom and knowledge is only gained through life. Experience it. And I want you to take a second to just consider how unique and wonderful your own life path has been. Good times, bad times, wild times, times that made you feel bad, times that made you feel good

I remember first hearing the word empath and me having this understanding of someone who has this heightened level of ability to feel what someone else is feeling or be in tune with what someone else is feeling, experiencing, et cetera. Then it reached a point where I was aware, or I had this heightened awareness that everyone seemed to be using and throwing that word around, and it just didn't feel right

@Her_Sisu

With respect to the word discernment, I think I've heard there's almost like a monopoly on the use of the word as if it belongs only in spiritual conversations or spiritual circles. However, we can discern whether or not someone's being honest with us, for example. And there's not necessarily spirituality involved there. There might be for some people, but to discern that this smell, for example, is pleasant or not, or is pine needles or garbage or. I don't know. Right
