The modern day Scarlet Letter: is cancel culture affecting change?

article image placeholderDoes cancel culture affect change?
And so then I wondered, what change are we really affecting here? What is the point here? Why are we doing this? And so now I'm turning those questions towards Council culture. It's almost like the the the the the the the the the the the the the the modern day Scarlet Letter is a few months, perhaps a year. Who knows, depending on how long the story stays within the social media cycles. Right. But is it really deterring anything?

Do feelings of fear, shame, or guilt deter or modify behaviour?

Hi. I've got to be really quiet, which is funny because it's like having being silenced. But rather, I'm like being silenced by almost, you know, crazy bird who wants constant attention and I'm hiding from. All right now. But anyway, I totally feel where you're coming from. Iked these thoughts for and I'm putting a link to an episode of a philosophy podcast called The Minefield that asks the question is cancel culture, restricting free speech

I don't know how I didn't get to put the title in the thing, but it's called The Minefield, and the episode is cancel Culture Castle and really constricting free Speech. So if you're interested, that's only fairly recent, too late last year. Anyway, I okay. Bye for now. Trying to get out of the screen. Okay, I'm back. And now. Bye

It is a shame πŸ™ˆ

So you have at least some perspective. Otherwise, it's just emotional projection and getting high on anger because anger gives you a dopamine hit and that's I think what it comes down to people just getting off on shaming office

Emotion can be the best proof of wrong doing, to most people sadly. @Seekin

Just emailed me like, yeah, they're saying this stuff, but we don't see any evidence of it. So keep doing your thing, keep being you. And that's all I needed to know. Who knows? Maybe now I could get canceled. If they look back, like, upon further evidence, we take back what we said. You can't be on this platform anymore. Who knows that maybe still could be a reality. Somebody listening to me 50 years from now

Underground

Because it sounds like a script because people say pretty much if you listen, they say pretty much exactly the same thing, use the same words and have the same gaping holes in their arguments. So what do you do? Do you call people out? Does that work? Because there's studies to show, particularly, people usually talk about in terms of religious people

Hearing & being heard. Learning & understanding. @ukalulu

Along with you mentioned the idea of virtue, my word virtue signaling there we go. Like that is a huge component as well. It's quite a messy topic, and I knew there was a lot there, but listening to the conversation in that podcast brought out so many other points. Psychology, sociology, politics. My goodness, it could go on and on. Parenthetically. Your puns across the platform have not gone unnoticed and continued to bring me a smile each time I see them

Time. Nuance. Humanity. Emotions vs critical thought. @Wuandurful

And I said, no, absolutely no plans to get on it either. And I had been thinking about clubhouse for a few weeks, and I was very firm in my decision. But give it a few hours and I completely changed my mind. And now I'm on over there. Not that I've done a whole lot, but, you know, that flip that switch happened so fast, so we're human

Hi seeking plum, and I can only speak for myself. But I'm one that never speaks about politics, especially online and Facebook, because I just think it just breeds hate, and it breeds feelings of anger and feelings of just maladjustment and just an uncomfortableness and it can be avoided. And I think people get addicted to that. They sink into that selfwallowness and they lose friends because of it. They don't speak to relatives because of it
