Why is THIS gift so very tempting?! 🎁

article image placeholderYou know you want to.
First, play with it, use it, and then however longer later, they'd go back and decide it was time to open another gift. I fall somewhere in the middle there. I've always been content to wait until Christmas morning. There's that anticipation, the excitement of what's to come, what's under the tree. And I didn't want to spoil that. I've never even been tempted until this year. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why

The temptation is strong with this one. https://s.swell.life/SSK75WVcMRhtCKI

Christina. Now, I want to know what's in that box. And if whoever gave you that box has a really good sense of humor and is a little bit of a prankster, then it looks like something from which springing Jack would come out of. So I can just imagine opening the box and this giant Dragon Jack just popping out. And I would love to see that if that was the case, I but do share a pick tomorrow of the open box. Now you have us all wondering

Oh, my goodness, Suda, you have added another level to this the curiosity of Aunts. I will be sure to share a photo. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday, Suda. Bye

The adult "marshmallow" experiment. πŸ˜† @MerelyHuman

Oh, you give me too much credit. Merely human. I didn't isolate this one out. This is the gift for Christmas morning. You know, I guess you could say that this is the adult version of the Marshmallow experiment because it's got this excellent extra emotional. That the torture of just wanting to lift that lid. And then the curiosity dopamine in there, too. And to do that repeatedly every time you walk past it

I ruined the moment 🀣

Hey, my sister in law is Thai, and I remember one year I gave her a fluffy cardigan for a present at Christmas and she opened it and she goes, no, sorry, Dodgy. I'm not like, and she just gave it straight back to me. I was like, what she said, I don't like it's scratchy on my skin. I can't wear it. You have it. And I was shocked. I was working really hard on not being offended

Also, a couple of things I didn't mention is when people give me gifts. I'm still polite. Even if I don't like them, I still play the game because I know that not everybody has this concept in their head, and I don't want to upset people unnecessarily. If I don't like it, though, I'll definitely re gift it and if they ask me about it, I'd probably tell them later. I'm not sure I can't remember how that goes

Receiving gifts. What's in the box. @GeorgieDee

And although I do enjoy gift cards to me, there's not the same magic there as when someone has taken the time and the effort. And this gift overall meant more to me because of the thought that went into it and how she considered me and what I like and what I might like than it is about the specific things that are in it. And to me, that is the greatest gift. So I don't know. I'm torn on how to respond to gifts better late than never

The Value of the person vs The Gift

And then when it tarnished, I just leave it in a little jewelry dish on my chest as memento and all the gifts that my son has ever given me, it doesn't matter how ugly they are. I adore them because he went out of his way to give them to me. My brother just gave me some glass coasters for Christmas. They're pretty ugly, and he bought them in a second hand shop, which is fine. I'm down with that man

Yes! So complicated. @GeorgieDee

But many years later, as an adult, then they gave me it was a fuzzy toy robotic chicken that would dance and sing the chicken dance. And for the life of me, I could not figure out why this was given to me. And they said something about how much they knew how much I loved the chicken dance, and it really brought into perspective, like how they view the world, how they view other people, and that some of these gifts are more about them than me
