Is every human interaction a transaction?
The one once told me that is is is is is is is is is is is is is every human interaction a transaction. A few years later, I'm beginning to wonder if there was some truth to it. If it's not money for goods and services, then maybe it's a verbal exchange, or perhaps body language or facial expression. Is there any situation in which we interact with another human? And there is not a transaction of some kind or another question?

If you have a deep connection or relationship with this person, then yeah, you're going to have no transactional conversation interaction whatsoever. This is all willingly. But if it's more of something of an acquaintance or an associate, someone you barely know or a coworker, you're kind of just going through the motions and kind of just doing it because you have to. So I think that's what I'm trying to say. Hopefully, that makes sense
And so by saying what you do to her and seeing her response, it gives you something back in whatever emotion you're looking for. So there is an exchange there as well, even if we look at like a neutral example, regardless of what you say to her. But you say something to her and she walks away. That's still sort of sort of a transaction. She may not have given you what you wanted responded in the way you hoped

That's the question. Indeed. I do believe that is a good something to think about. What would it be if there was nothing for you guys to benefit in that conversation? Would it be essentially a conversation would be boring and no one would really care for or would it be something interesting? So, yeah, I could see that happening. I could see that being an interesting thing to look forward to
Johnston calls this relative level of dominance and submission quote unquote status, and argues that all conversations act like a seesaw of status. Any thoughts

I like this twist. And I like that you pointed out the flip side. You know that if we focus on the positive, we can reshape ourselves in that way because we don't hear that part of it enough. We do hear, you know, if you are the summary of X number of people you surround yourself with, but what you've presented here is more nuanced than that. I like this much better
