Scientists say they have taught spinach to communicate... by email... 🀯

article image placeholderChemical sensors in spinach can fire off messages, scientists say
They help to message each other when there is a threat to the vicinity. You know, there's so much there so fascinating. And then a while ago, we had a conversation here on Swell, where we touched on this company called Plant Wave, where they create these little devices that have sensors that you place on the leaf of a plant. And it produces a type of music

Thank you for sharing this. Plants are so cool. For many of the reasons you just said, the more I learn about plants, the more I realize how powerful and capable they are of doing things that most people wouldn't expect, like communicating with each other and creating a network with each other. And I saw the device that you are talking about

PlantWave. Could we develop a HumanWave? @liora

Leora, I hope you're right. I hope this is the beginning of something. I saw that video. In fact, I put a link to it in another thread where we were talking about it. Initially it was so cool to watch it like play completely different music

Same plants, different 🎢! https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeJae1ah/ @liora

He gradually adds one plant after another, and so you can hear the addition of the sounds that they are contributing to this chorus, you know, and what's really, really cool is if you go to the Tik Tok account, then following few TikToks actually are the same plants hooked up, but they're playing different music, which is so cool to me, because it just makes me think of how many different factors are involved in there being different music coming from that particular plant today

And just because they don't do the same things that we do doesn't mean that their value is less. And I think that we are equating that their inability to do the same things that we do as less. And I just don't think that's right at all. I don't think that's fair. And obviously it's hurting us. It's hurting our planet. It's hurting the plants who are living things, right

Psychokinesis? @Izzy https://s.swell.life/SSNzvwaA433RDLW

There's a part of me that's extremely skeptical. And I'm like, really, because for so long and so often we like to dismiss things that can't quite be explained. Right. But I keep reminding myself that there were times when people thought that others were depressed, and it was because they were having symptoms after eating something that was poisonous. So maybe there's something here we just haven't learned yet
