@SeekingPlumb

I'm thinking about dumping Instagram for Vero ("True Social").

article image placeholderSocial without ads | VERO
Okay. I am seriously considering dumping Instagram the whys are a whole topic in themselves, and we can get into that if you want. But I've been looking for an alternative, and I think I found something. I'm curious about it. I'm wondering if any of you do use Vero V-E-R-O true social or if you know of anybody, if you've heard anything, what? Your thoughts are on it

Do you use it? Have you heard anything about it? What do you think? https://vero.co/

And I mean, some may be better than others, but it really is just another social platform, and there'll be another one that will come along from that. And I mean, you know, there's just so many. Now where does it end

What are you thoughts on Vero and Ig? @SeekingPlumb

If you are comparing it to the likes of Instagram, I'm curious to hear what are some issues you've had with Instagram, whereas for me, it's probably my number one app in terms of connecting with people on like minded issues. It's probably number one, the strongest place I've literally built an audience for my podcast there, so I had to recalibrate my style. Whereas before I was reliant on anchor to get my audience where they still had that at the time

Some background. What is Vero. @NealD @Wuandurful

And I know that there's a lot there where some of it seems a little scarier than it is, and other pieces are scarier than people are saying they are. Generally speaking, I am not a fan of Facebook, and so I want to extricate myself from all of their products, so I'm no longer on Facebook

I’ll be curious to hear about your switch when you do make it. @SeekingPlum

If it wasn't for family, I probably wouldn't be on Facebook at all. But that's like, the only line I have towards families without that, they would never hear from me. They would only see me on Instagram, and I know less than half of them use Instagram on top of that. Facebook is the way how I don't have to see my family as often
@SeekingPlumb

If only!! @Wuandurful

But if I can't convince them to come to somewhere where I'm passionate and I really appreciate, well, how can I convince them to go to somewhere that I'm just like, I'm not sure yet, but on that note, when I do finally make a decision, and if it is in the direction of going to zero, I will be sure to let you know what I think and how it goes. I did download it yesterday. I created an account

I tell you what, Queen, this is something that we can do together. Already got the account over there because I saw this podcast, this post, this swell. And because you you said it. I already went over there. Got me a profile, looked me up and we can test this app out together. How about that, Queen? Sound like fun, right? Sound like fun, right? I it's going to be extra
@SeekingPlumb

@Mr2Extra

Sorry Mister Ekstro, I'm not even sure if I want to do anything with this app yet. Besides, I prefer to fly solo or with the ladies, but I thank you for the offer

I get people liking the reviews, Harding, the reviews, posting comments under the post and everything. So I'm big on feedback and I get a lot of feedback on Instagram and I'm happy with it. So I utilize it as a promotional tool. I don't utilize it as a social aspect

Not sure about Vero

I don't mind. It's keeping me from spending my entire day because I'm on disability and I don't have a job or I can't work because of my disability. So there's that we left Facebook. We tried or looking for other social media apps, and we stumbled upon Swell, and that's where we're going to live for a while until something better comes along I hadn't heard anything about

Oh, well, some of us who are very quiet and maybe don't normally use this platform a lot might have things to say about you leaving Instagram because they like seeing you there and because they love you more

So it's not like I can't find that somewhere. I do think over time I'm using Facebook less and less now, especially since mom is gone, because that was the way that I could share things with her that she sort of understood. Yeah. Anyway, I think that it's an understandable to want to take back your control over your data and yourself, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I would miss you

Hello!! @calliopedays

Woman, I have not heard your voice in way too long. Like, at first I just thought it was somebody else, and I didn't recognize that. I wasn't thinking. And then all of a sudden I was like, Wait a minute, wait a minute. I know that voice. No worries. I'm not leaving Instagram. It was a brief thought. It's not going to happen. And welcome to Swell

2022 and a new bloom of interest in Vero

Okay, jumping into this conversation. A year and a half after your initial post, I just saw someone on Instagram saying he was in interested in leaving that platform, moving to Vero. So I downloaded the app just to see what it was like. And I discovered that just in the past week, a large contingent of artists, some of whom I know, some of whom I do not, have, made the jump over the bureau

@Tim

I think my account over there still exists. I haven't engaged with it, though, since around the time when I made this initial swell. So I don't know. Any chance I can get to get away from the Meta, Facebook monopoly? I'm all over it. But as strongly as some of my feelings and thoughts are on them as a business and the policies and the things that they do, the things of the heart, seem to capture me more or keep me there. Right

Now that they've made the incorporation of Asynchronous audio, I think it's going to help me in the way that I'm wired be able to create spaces that I want to have conversations in because I don't like lots of arguing or overlapping voices or background noises or I don't want to have to fight for participating in a conversation
@SeekingPlumb

@catsandlocusts

It's not intuitive, and I don't use it enough or enjoy it enough to spend time there on a regular basis. So I don't invest anymore in trying to figure it know SoundCloud, I think is kind of like an audio version of YouTube. If you will, where you put up your piece of audio and people can comment, but I believe their comments are done in text. But I haven't used SoundCloud enough to know
@SeekingPlumb

@catsandlocusts

I wanted to grab you a couple of screenshots, but I can't find a live room at the moment. They've done this new update. It's made it more complicated in some ways and cooler in other ways. So the live rooms imagine the screen is sort of cut in half, sort of, and the top half is quote unquote, the stage, and the bottom half is the audience

Just added you back. I'm going to message you over there, but for whatever reason, that link didn't work for me, so I don't know what's up with that. But I'm going to attempt to find the thing that you posted, and I'm going to message you over there
