How would our perspectives differ, if we were immortal?

How would our perspectives differ if we were immortal so we haven't become suddenly immortal? We've always been we've heard about you can't really appreciate death without life and life without death. But how would that affect our perspectives by comparison? What if any things? Would we find more meaningful of greater value than we do now? Or what are things that we value now and find very important? Would we find less meaning in if we were immortal

If we can't truly appreciate life without death & death didn't exist, how would our values differ? #PlumbPlays

It would remove existential dread, but I'm not certain it would remove the feelings attached to it. I don't know. I think that's a really cool question, and I wish had better answers for you, but thank you for posting something so kind of fun. I feel like I might mull this over almost all day, just in the back of my mind

#immortality

I love this question. I have often thought about this. And the thing that always comes to mind right away is if we were immortal, however, still susceptible principle, to being killed by an accident or natural disaster or something, we would be obsessed with safety. I think I might be a lot more suicide. That sounds horrible. Yeah, because you might be immortal. But that doesn't mean you can't get smashed by a bus

I loved your answer, @RenGoblin! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

No, I love your answer. The question is, who am I? Why am I here? We'd probably have to rethink entirely how those questions are even answered, because with an immortal life, you know, you could become very talented or gifted in one area, but then decide to move on to something else and become equally talented in that area and do all of these things define who we are to only some of them, how many of them, you know

A society based on fear. ๐Ÿค” @RayRenati

I mean, these are only some examples of creating bonds and friendships and relationships. But I do wonder, like in that world, what they would look like

Boredom would be severe!

If we were immortal as human beings, I think a lot of stuff would change. Money would probably not be as important. I mean, really, when you could be homeless for over 100 years and be like, okay, I've done this. Let's try something else. A lot of people would just be doing a lot of different things, but the idea of caring about riches and finance would just seem to be kind of wasteful

Take things for granted

I don't know what would happen to nature, what kind of a toll it would take on nature because as a race, we are a selfish race, right? We put ourselves first. And when immortality comes in, then you know that there is no sort of a time frame to our existence on this planet. And I'm not sure if that would be a good thing

Yeah. A trade off. @KnowWuan

I've wondered about some of these things, too. Duanne skills, money, boredom, peace, war. And in some ways, like because I think some of those things would go away, too. It seems like it would lean itself more towards some sort of utopian society. But maybe oddly enough, I think those difficulties, those ways of suffering, are ways that bring us closer together

Population growth and advancement. @wordsmith

I wondered similarly, I have to say that how perfect it was to have you talking about nature and the planet and you have the birds in the background enjoyed that so much. I've wondered, you know, just because because there's immortality in this alternate world we're talking about in some ways, I keep thinking, oh, that must mean that there's a lot of technological advances, a lot of new research, new understandings. And so maybe we'd be on different planets

But if it were to ever come to come into being, I don't know if we are even ready for something like that. Yet another thing that kind of scared me was that progress, as we know it might just stagnate as people currently in power would probably never step down and leave no room for new ideas or try and get past older ways of thinking. And to me, that is something too scary to even think about

๐Ÿ˜ฎ @NamelessJournal

But who knows? Because sometimes we see it today. We don't always anticipate everything that might come or might be. And so you're sort of playing catch up with procedures or laws or whatever. So I don't know. I'm interesting
