Radically changing the US prisons; a pilot project.

article image placeholderPrison Project: Little Scandinavia (extended trailer)
Some of these guys have been in there 29, 30, 31 years and so on and to see them have to ask, Is it okay if I touch the oven door and open? It is so frustrating and heartbreaking that this is how they live and they've lived this way for as long as they have. But to suddenly now have this new way of life where they are treated with respect. They have their meals shared with the staff. They can use these ovens and Cook. You know what?

Forget prisons for profit. Think respect & humanizing the inmates. https://youtu.be/gTC1KI0STIY

But to see this being replicated here in the US is just very heartwarming. So thank you for sharing. I watched the YouTube video and agree with you that this is definitely a project to keep an eye on. So it's very nice. Thank you

And the fact that it has taken us so long to get out of that the fact that we have so many implicit associations as a society of associating criminals with negative stereotypes. It's really interesting to me, because there are times when especially for young white men who are teens, when they commit a violent heinous act, it's like, oh, they have a mental illness. They must have some kind of mental illness or issue that happened

Revenge. Not really about the person/crime. @Izzy

Why does this mistake they made or this action they took stay with them then for the rest of their lives. Because when they fill out a job application, they have to say that they're an ex convict in a lot of places, they still can't vote. But if it's really about revenge, as opposed to the criminal paying their time for the action they took, then it's really about us and not them. And to me, that is so messed up
