Excerpts from "Mis(s)adventures of a Salesgirl"

article image placeholderUploaded by @aashisha
Well, now I'm going to read a part of the core sales part which this girl in oxygen faces when she does her sales in China. So there's this retailer she goes to and she has to be prepared for the barbs. All the retailers are not that friendly. So there's this retailer and she just goes there and she says, hi, hello. How's everything going? And the guy says, Madam, you're the first one to come here in ages

Alright, so I'm going to just continue with the excerpt that I was reading. Yeah. Madam, please do not try to defend the company. Not once has an ASM visited the site. Not once. You send these poor salesmen, pressurizing and torturing them and all they do is come begging to us to increase the sales at our respective points. And what can we do? We're just retailers. The customer chooses and the customer buys. We can just guide them and that we do

The very nature of the corporate world, like I said, it's all about targets and numbers is such that it creates that ladder, that corporate ladder, because it's all very competitive. Either you meet your numbers or you don't meet your numbers. And that pressure percolates top down. The guy at the top is under a lot of pressure, so he'll press everybody below him, even if you're selling something as stupid as soap or soda, shampoo or shoes

So my aim of writing this book was mostly just to show the scenario. Because as a writer, I aim to be a very honest, unbiased watcher. And that is what I have tried to do in this novel. And of course, there's a lot of humor because when sales is fun, at the end of the day, it is also quite funny. And yes, it is also dark. So it has a lot of aspects

Hi, Aashisha. Congratulations on the book. I listen to the excerpt and it has been very hard hitting. And for me, generally, anything that is as close to real life and ground realities is very appealing. And those are the kind of stories that I enjoy reading and I think stories that resonate with the India of today and give us a glimpse into those lives that we may not personally encounter right. But definitely must know about. And I think I'm really curious

And if I, Chand, touch the readers lives through that, I think I would be successful as a person, as a human being. And I really do hope that you enjoy the book, because I feel that everybody has, at some point of time or the other being at the receiving end of Snide remarks, not just as a woman, but also as a human being. Chand everyone has probably had to sell either themselves, their careers, or their abilities

It's like entertaining. I don't know if there is more depth, but it is definitely light entertainment, which is like how would I say refreshing compared to the serious stuff we find all around us. Goodnight. Take care. Bye

Hi. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson. And I meant it not really as a lesson, but mostly as a kind of expression of activities and expression of problems that almost everybody, everybody faces. And if someone from college who is trying to get into trying to get pleased, who's trying to get into the corporate domain and sales and marketing get something out of this book, then I think I will have been successful

I do feel that this kind of writing, which is not too harsh and which is not too difficult and serious, but kind of touches upon things subtly, are important. And I really hope you enjoy the book. Thank you for your review. I'm happy to recharge out. Thanks

Sales is really an art of mind. The way you decide something or the way your attitude is basically represents how well you can sell something. It's an art of convincing, art of negotiating, art of dealing with strange people out of telling them or making others to do what we want. So in this process, most of them, they feel that it's a tedious process

Hi, kavya. Thank you for considering this story interesting. Because, you know, real life can be quite tough to handle. And, you know, I always wanted to tell stories stories, but I think I wanted to make real life stories more palatable for readers, and that's where this idea came from. So I'm really happy you find it good. I'm really happy

So to swift through what you call important content and find out what's worth to you, I think that's the key. And I personally feel that selling is one of the most underrated skills, as you just mentioned, to convince someone to do what they want and then to really do it

So, yeah, that's amazing. This book is very close to my heart because it was one of the most important stepping stones in my career. And I do feel that you've been through that and people like you also have started there and somehow reached a certain point. So well, I'm quite tempted to ask, which telecom company were you in, but I will reserve that question for Lita. I do hope you have fun with the book. You enjoy the read. Take care
