World’s four greatest epics…

article image placeholderUploaded by @RSFoundation20
Number two, and these are not in any particular order. Number two is the Elliott, written by Homer, and this is in Greek. The third is the Odyssey, also by Homer. And in Greek. And the fourth is the Ramayan, written by Walmiki, which is also in Sanskrit. So the Mahabharat is one of the greatest Indian epics, and some say compiled around the 8th century BC. Others say around the fourth century BC. There is no clarity on this

What is fascinating is that after all these years, these epics still give us that sense of identity and culture and belonging that gives them, what can I say, a sense of timelessness. It's a fact that we all are influenced by our ancestry, our history, and so much of our culture, our tradition, our festivals trace back to our history

And the A*** is supposed to be the first of a long line of kings of Rome. And so supposedly Rome's beginnings are in the ashes of Troy. But all these works, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Iliad and the Odyssey are also religious books. And the ancient Greeks looked at the Iliad and the Odyssey as they worked that told them about gods and rulers of heaven. And all these heroes are supposedly gods on earth

If you're familiar with the band Steely Dan on their album Asia Aja, there's a song, Home at Last, which is essentially a short synopsis of Homer's odyssey. Anyways, thanks for your post, JP
