Nothing left in the tank

article image placeholderUploaded by @RSFoundation20
Hi, I want to talk today about the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's resignation in the last few days, I think it was three days ago. And the reason that she gave for her resignation when she said that, I've got nothing left in the tank and it was an emotional moment and she stepped aside after, I think, less than six years, she still had some time to go, but she has chosen to step aside

And she really united with the Muslim community during the Christchurch shooting in a way that I don't think many politicians or Prime Ministers would have been able to do. So it's disappointing because she was it's disappointing in a way, because she was changing the face of politics, but that came at such an incredibly heavy cost to her personally. And I think, to me, what a prime display of nonattachment, of knowing when is the right time to let go?

Instead, it's about leading, it's about giving your all. And when you know that, it's beyond you at this point, for whatever reason, passing the baton. Because we're all humans. We're all on this planet in this game of life together. And to instead make it about these convoluted or skewed ideas of leadership being about power or prestige or staying in those positions, I really think that says more about all of us than it does about her

And yes, I think Jacinda Ardern is a living example of detachment. See, this is the thing about having conversations, how one thing can lead to another and how one idea can build into so many more ideas. So thanks a ton for this and I do hope you are going to join in in that conversation on Friday and I do hope we'll come up with more connects with the world around us and the Bhagwatkita. So looking forward to more exchanges by

And I look forward to hearing more of what you have to say on the topic, because I think non attachment is definitely one of the major practices for spiritual practice, you know, taught in the bug of a beetta and among the Buddhist teachings and I'm sure among other areas of the Dharmic traditions as well. So that continual human desire to cling, cling, cling, cling, and all the dissatisfaction and suffering that that can cause, it's a hard one

They have to embody some part of people because after all, if they're going to stand up for your needs and represent what you require, then they have to understand the scenarios. And to be that, you have to be human. You have to understand it. You have to be imperfect. I think that is often overlooked. That because they're human. That's why they can represent us rather than because they're perfect. That's why they could represent us

Hi. Ohna, I hope I'm pronouncing your name right. And if I'm not, please pardon me. I found your response so interesting, and I would never have thought of this on my own, that's for sure. When you say that, basically what you're saying is that why do we look for perfection in people who represent us when we know that we are imperfect ourselves?

But in case of a prime minister, in case of a political entity so we have become very much used to the fact that in politics there is usually more than what meets the eye. So how these power games are played and how do people become prime ministers of a country? It's not something which is as simple as it okay, let's go to direction and I win an election and then within the party just choose me the leader and I'll be the PM

So to that extent, to my mind, the two things are not that different, but within politicians also, though I am not a politician, I don't come from a political family, I am not batting for politicians here. But still, I would still like to believe, I still not want to put all of them in the same box. For instance, your point is well taken about politicians and immediately one would say that oh, what's going on?
