Patriarchy & Valentine’s Day… what’s going on here???

article image placeholderUploaded by @RSFoundation20
And I think as women we do need to think a little more about it. Yes, a little bit of idiocy, a little bit of having fun and all that is fine. It's good. But I think some amount of consistency might be a good idea. So I'm not being a killjoy here. I'm not saying that everybody should be in a specific role all the time, but just a little food for thought and saying to the women that, stop confusing the men

Over engineered Valentines

If a set of youngsters want to have a romantic connotation to it then so be it. I mean why should it bother anybody else? And as human beings, like I said, all men are different so all women are different too. So I don't think anybody is giving out any confusing signals. We have a situation where somebody can feel differently in different phases of lives

So there was a lot of, I would say, ridicule around behaviors of this sort. Right? So what I'm trying to say is, yes, I think there's some patriarchal concepts to the holiday, but I think the younger generation is kind of pushing back against it by saying later on, right, because attend Rupees Kagula becomes sorrow valentine's Day. And young people are like, nobody got time for this. We don't have money

But what I find interesting is that, number one, valentine's Day itself, whatever it has come to stand for in our country, number two, why this insistence on trying to prove to everyone that Valentine's Day is about love and love can be with anyone? So you are wishing your friends Valentine's Day, you are wishing your family Valentine's Day because this is a way of showing love. Is there anything I don't get at all?

But mostly your parents are not telling it, your friends are not telling it. Your spouse probably does, but not in public. Maybe in private. Again, these are personal choices. And I would say nobody is wrong in the choice that we make when it comes to these kind of interactions. But there is a version of the perfect life that people see. Whether it is in movies, whether it is in books, whether it is in TV shows or even nowadays social media content
