#AskSwell When you’ve been inside for a while, how do you "Get back outside"

article image placeholderUploaded by @Royalcapability
You. Hey. Okay, so I have a question, and the question is, if you hadn't been outside in a while, as the younger generation say, or people say, as far as dating, how do you get back out there? Like, what do you do? What are your initial steps? Like, just go to, you know, things of interest, whether it's best for jazz and you see somebody interested, and you give them the eye

So I think it's like, a combination of things, because I know some people they met on a dating app. I also know some people, like I said, they met through mutual, so I can't really pinpoint what exactly the vast majority are doing. But, yeah, I feel like either way, you're good, you know?

It. Hi. Thanks so much for that. And I can agree with you. I know it's a lot of different ways that you can greet people, but when you've been inside for quite some time and I used to be pretty flirtatious once upon a time where I could start chatting with a guy at the gas station. Like you didn't better. I would approach a guy just by conversation, laughs or whatever

You. Yeah, I can definitely relate. Yes, ma'am. I can definitely relate to what you're saying because I'm a big flirt too. It's definitely something I've actually had to work on, because sometimes I'm like, okay, like, this time I'm really not even trying to flirt. I'm just being cool, like, nice, and y'all thinking it's something when it's nothing, but I definitely understand that. Yeah

I'm just not I've never met or tried to meet anybody on a dating app, although I've got a couple of friends who met their husbands on Match, so we're not going to rule anything out. Everything is on the table when it comes to dating. I don't have any type of method or platform that I would demonize and say, no, stay away from that. No, it's all on the table. You can meet great people online

It's. So yeah, that's the thing, I used to do those type of things, but I don't anymore and I gotta, I guess it's taking the initiative, you know, cause like I mentioned before, I could be at a gas station, grocery store, the gym, anywhere and it was just too easy

Like the Amazon delivery guy or the Up PSG or something like that when they come to your house. I can't remember how it goes. But the point of the matter is what's the chances of somebody just knocking on your door saying, hey, what's up? Thank you so much. I appreciate your feedback on this

Hey, I don't know how to get outside. I have been married for a very long time and now divorced, and I'm comfortable being single. I like my space and my freedom, but that doesn't mean that you can't have that with someone. My suggestion is, is that, yeah, you let down your guard to get to know people, but if your guard stays up, if you trust your instinct, don't try to make something fit when it clearly doesn't

But like you, I do enjoy being single. I do enjoy my space. I enjoy all that. However, what I miss is going out, hanging out some laughs with a companion and stuff like that, cooking together and doing things that I enjoy. So that's my only thing though, that guard and my daughter always tell me, mom, you don't ever give anyone a chance. You don't ever give anyone a chance
