Audio Storytelling vs. Traditional Writing

article image placeholderUploaded by @riverhunter87
So it sounds like you're actually not just listening to the story, but the scene is spoken out and you're there, you're just listening. You're a fly on the wall hearing it. And so my problem with writing is that I'm like, well, I literally can't get the words to come out of my brain onto a screen type writing them out. What if I tried to look at this from a different perspective?

Oh, here we go again. You invited me to a topic, I've decided to respond this time. I must admit, usually when I get an invite to a topic, seven times out of ten, it is not a topic I'd be interested in. It's very seldom where it's like, oh, wow, I'm invited to a topic that actually can have me probe deep with philosophical thought and curiosity. But this is like this is to satisfy you quite literally

Conforability

I am new to swell, so I don't know how that would work by creating a semi podcast like you were saying on this app. But I think it's possible because I've seen something similar to your idea done on Clubhouse, that I follow somebody and they taped up a soap opera and it came came out perfectly, and they did it into a podcast afterwards. So if you put your idea together on pen and paper, I think it's able to be done

To me, it sounds like it's a lot of pressure and a lot more difficult to convey your art. But that's me, right? I don't know what works best for you, so I don't know. I don't know that I have a lot of input. You know, Bennett Chef might have some ideas with respect to writing. She is a ghostwriter and she writes herself and she does swells on topics of writing and LinkedIn conversations and so on

Because you get to hear the thing, you get to feel the emotions, you can feel the influence and impact on the voice. So that's my take on audio storytelling versus traditional writing. I would love to hear everybody else's thoughts. And once again, if you want to connect with more from me, my website is Terry Thompson.com. I have a couple of free books over there for you, a couple of training programs. I actually work with authors

These are things that really only you can answer. So to what end? Why is it that you want to tell your story? The next question would be, what skill set do you have that you would possess to create and produce the best product to deliver that story, to fulfill the reason why what I mean by that is, are you a good writer? Can you write books? And he said, because of Long COVID, he has some obstacle to overcome in that regard, perhaps

The BOTH

And it is going to be multimodal in terms of its form. It's going to have poetry and scripts and vignettes and prose, and I'm going to have a discussion group on Swell the second I publish it, so I'll have a QR code of that particular Swell in the book itself when it's published. So the QR code will go right to this mother Swell that is the book

Hi, Wren. Thank you so much for responding. Yeah, my brain has been so scattered and especially but sometimes when I jump on swell and I try to make my point, I zigzag in a million different directions. And that's because I'm unmasking or at least trying when I'm on here. And so the pathway in my brain may not necessarily make sense to those with ears, but I wanted to thank you for responding

Thank you so much for the idea of living documents existing together. I had that similar thought before. I had a story that was journal entries. We're going to go on Amazon, Bella. The actual book was going to go on Kindle. Substitute documents from that world would get posted to Watpad. Radio broadcasts would be on amp, and kind of a radio aspect of that was going to be on Swell

Are you interested in creating fiction or sharing autobiography?

What are you creating, fiction or nonfiction? That's what I'm curious about. I think Swell would be a really great place to beta test or try out stories to be essentially a creative writing journal. And if, like you said, you're blocked writing or you're having trouble getting pen to paper, I think talking out your story, this is a great place to do it for a longer serialized story. I don't think this is the right tool

@Tim

Hi, Tim, thank you so much for responding to my Swell. I have a tendency to not be very clear. I don't know if it's my neurodivergency or maybe I just don't think things through too much before I hit record. But anyway, thank you for responding. And yes, it is definitely a fictional story. I've been researching and doing all of this work for just over a year, finally getting to the point where I can see the whole picture
