They're opportunists that even if you tell them you are just friends, that they are waiting in the background, just waiting on you to have a weak moment or you to get to a point that you're like interested in them or whatever the case case may be, I say that's not my problem. If I'm honest with them and I tell them that's not where I'm at, then that's what I mean through the whole relationship

I personally am of the same mind as you are on this topic, then opposite sex friendships are totally, perfectly okay as long as maybe there are a couple boundaries in place. But even then, if the friendship is good enough and you two are in the same kind of in the same kind of zone, those boundaries really just need to be more unspoken. Like you would never think of doing this or crossing this line
