"Time's Goodbye" poetry by Slay

article image placeholderUploaded by @Renee_Slay
The only thing I know they are out to get me all the same my life is over and what a d*** shame knowing they're right but fighting it so hard card staring blankly at that nursing home card time to say goodbye it's so very unfair as I turn the lights out and pretend that I don't care thank you for listening. I hope it touched you as much as it touched me

A child knows because a child is still full of wonder, and an elderly person knows because they know there is so little time left. So the joy and the love of being alive is so great at those stages. I love, love, love this piece, and I want to thank you for sharing it and inviting me to it. It was amazing to listen to, and it definitely touched my heart spaces. I appreciate you so much

And I get it, because now I am in my 40s, my mother in her 60s, my grandfather passed away in his 90s, both maternal grandmother and grandfather. So I get it. No one wants to hear that information about their parent. However, it was reality. So as I listened to your poem, I thought about, wow, just even thinking about my own autonomy and freedom as an adult of what that will look like and feel like, God forbid

And I pray, too, that that doesn't happen to me, because it seems to run run pretty strong in the women in our family. I feel for both the families and the people that suffer from it, from anything that dims their light. And I appreciate your personal story there. It touched me. Thank you again. Bye

Like, unfortunately, I've got a lot of anger in me, or I don't have it in me, but that's how I get it out, because, like, you you, man, from start to finish, I've been through some things. I'm talking about that's the book I need to write. But they could make a movie. I'd watch it. It'd be interesting. It'd be an emotional roller coaster for sure
