Remember "Calling people just to call them?"

Hey, folks, it's Theo. As always, got to start off the best way possible by thanking all of you for being here. I greatly appreciate all of you. And this time around, I'm going to have a little fun with an observation. And obviously, we're in a time now of cell phones, smartphones, and I get that people have landlines, but I don't know why

The short answer to your question is that technology has changed therefore people do not make phone calls as we did when I was growing up in the 80s

That I believe still exists, but who knows if that's not even taken over by text? And I don't know. I've been a bachelor for a while now. I've been off the block for a little bit, so I don't know if they're doing things that way, but I would assume that people will stay all night texting each other, and I just don't think that calling on the phone is that popular in this day and age

Calling people just to call theo. I think in some ways, texting, like you said, made it easier to connect. It's not intrusive, not that a phone call is, but it's just easy to be discreet when you're texting someone or reading text rather than have a full blown conversation. But at the same time, I think texting is somewhat impersonal. You don't hear intonation tone, pause, even just the pitch of your voice

#GenX I still prefer an actual convo , call me #retro

And my mom goes as far as leaving a voicemail and texting me to let me know she called and left a voicemail and to call her back. And nine times out of ten, it is not an emergency. It's just, hey, how are you? I just want to hear your voice. I want to make sure you're good and whatever else happens after that conversation. So I don't really look at it as like, oh, my God, that's so old school

And it's interesting because I'm out and hearing these dating streets and I get the younger guys why are younger guys into 40 year old women? I have no idea. Look, I'm not trying to be anybody's sugar mama. I'm looking for some sugar, okay? So they'll be like, oh, I'm so interested in you. And then they want to text me or DM me all day, and then I finally have to, which eventually they go away

Hi, Theo. I just wanted to pipe in on this and say you are so great for me. I am so glad I don't get tied to the phone. There are times when I will reach out to a friend or be there for a friend via the phone. Any other time time. I don't enjoy being tied to the phone, if that makes sense. Texting, for me is so much easier. So, yeah, I remember a time when I was much younger
