I'm sure this is just an example of the many difficulties that people with disabilities face in navigating a society that is largely driven by an ableist approach. And it is thanks to this fellow passengers post on social media that this issue even came up to the forefront for a discussion. And it is really an unpalatable fact that we still live in a world where we continue to ignore and fail to acknowledge that every day there are scores of people with disabilities who will continue to face indignity, humiliation and discrimination

Hi. Thank you for bringing this topic to my notice. I hadn't actually heard of this news and it is only via your swell that I came to know about it. And I actually agree with you what you say, that the staff should be sensitized about this PWDP people and they should not actually discriminate between them

Hi Ramya, I hope you're doing great and I really appreciate your efforts to bring this topic in our acknowledgement. It's really important to know what's going around you. What where the society is going, where India is becoming, what India is becoming. This is what what I believe. Thank you for making us aware of this and having a conversation or discussion over this topic. But just the discussion won't solve the problem. The people need to understand. People need to accept such facts

I mean, we should not make world a much harder place for them. They're already struggling through a lot of difficulties and we kind of rely on this ground staff or like the cabin crew for our safety or our well being. Right. The moment we enter an airport. We are their responsibility, right. I mean, not on an extreme extent, but they are kind of responsible for our well being. Or if we have any problem, they have to help us, at least help us

Even though they have paid for the flight, they have completed all the requirements that they need to and yet they were denied their flight for no reason. Even the other passengers were so supportive. And even after that, the employees didn't see how if everyone is so supportive, they can go on with it. They didn't care. They just were doing what they had to do and they were so disrespectful to the family, which is very long. It could also be that they were just discriminating

I can really understand what effect it would have taken on the mentality and mental health. So I really think that and a few days before there was a video that went viral how the airline crew members treated a woman. She was just fighting with them and they started treating her in a very bad way. So I really think that these people need to be trained and as young duration. If you are going into these fields, these fields are all about service

We can learn empathy just by interacting with people we don't understand. So maybe that's what we could do for the next generation because the generations that came before unconsciously saw disability, and I think unfortunately associated some stigma to it. And that mentality has filtered down in a few places. So those of us who are still in the youngish age bracket, that's what we could do. We can develop empathy by trying to understand all forms of people. Right

And we've had Swan Altaj earlier on Swell. She suffers from multiple sclerosis and she has spoken about the kind of challenges that she Braves day in, day out when she goes to public spaces. Basic aspects, such Das ramps for wheelchairs. Right. These things are just not available in India. And I can only imagine how the parents would have felt. Tanishka Gupta talks about how very patient they were and they did not show any kind of aggressiveness and hats off to them
I hope you're getting me but coming back to the point I'm really ashamed with the ground staff. The, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the Indigo Airlines incident the you brought this incident in lime with us. Thank you for sharing the incident

Hi Kavya It is indeed sad, but yet knowledgeable to know that such things are happening around us. Thank you for posting such a topic
So why do I look down to other person when things could happen with me as well? Instead, we should give respect to them and we should support them and we should help them in a positive manner. That's what like to address here
And until and unless it is a matter of us, people don't become aware and realize the value of the incidents happening around us of this kind shows how much the humanity Das been lost in today's world and how much we have to get back the kindness and humbleness in this world because it's not only about how the disabled or a particular set of people feel against the ablest or not, but also even for a normal people, this is kind of a sustained signal around that says that if not today or something tomorrow something happens to you, the society might not approve of you
