Is it truly lonely at the top?

There seems to be this painful dynamic that isolates those who excel in their area of workforce and the rest. And I'd be really glad to know what your thoughts are on this. Thank you. Bye

Your thoughts on the #success vs #loneliness dynamics?

I think the term It's lonely at the top speaks more to one's own insecurities that develop from being in a power position. Imagine a scenario where you are the ultimate control of the lives of those around you, right? They're going to start acting differently to you. You're not going to know who's being genuine with you and who's behaving in a certain way simply because they fear you

Some excellent points there @MerelyHuman

Thank you for sharing your perspectives on this topic. Quite insightful. Beware the points you brought up made me think of this quote by Hemingway. Happiness in Intelligent People is the rarest thing I know. And the fact that prodigies like Virginia Wolf and Plat and Alan Turing were all, in fact plagued by existential doubts and loneliness for most part of their lives, even when they were at the top of their art. Just point out to what you exactly said

You're so right, @AverageJoe🙂

Hey, Joe, thank you for your thoughts. Oh, yeah. I'm sure the crowd around Tim Cook are all nice and adoring and respectful to him, but that doesn't quite mean that he feels known, respected, or liked for who he is beyond his obvious title and position. Yes, it does look like it all boils down to the workings of one's mind, and I can only imagine the inane amount of pressure that comes with being in a position of such power

Ramire, I will look at this question from three standpoints. The first is merely human footprint growth. As you climb the ladder, you evolve in terms of experience, worldview knowledge and goals, and your circumstances will get smaller. The second, as Joe mentioned, you operate from a space of power that might narrow the number of genuine connections around you. The third standpoint would be purpose. What is the purpose you are working for?

@wordsmith

And that's certainly a bummer because it is only natural to want to be light. So I guess navigating this slippery slope is both in art and the science, and I don't know maybe there are no real answers for this, but I really appreciate your views. Thank you. Bye
