The death of 'Geographic Narcissism'?

article image placeholderGeographical narcissism: when city folk just assume they're better
So maybe part of the reason for this kind of perception could be because of the organizational structure of most large companies, which usually have their headquarters and executive team in some major city, leaving those who work away from these hubs at a bit of a disadvantage, if I might say, and then came this global pandemics, which in a way evened out the plain field, rendering geography almost irrelevant. So my question is really this is geography a key determinant of quality?

Determining one's "worth."

And it becomes all of these little tick boxes of how important or how worthy someone is. The fewer boxes you have ticked, then the less time people sometimes want to give you to even have a conversation. In some ways, I think the pandemic did flip things, but it's going to bring in something new and different now. It's whether can you work from home? Not only that, but then the next couple question is, can you work remotely?

@SeekingPlumb you bring up a great point!

So I detest. What do you do? Question as well. And I consciously try and avoid using that as an icebreaker in my conversations. I'd rather have them talk about it if and when they are comfortable while sharing it. It's a bummer. I know. But what we do professionally does shape what people think of us. So a doctor is universally acknowledged as being more competent than a chef. But if we were to really take a hard look, that's absolute rubbish

I think that the problem sort of arises just in the basic kind of divide that exists between more urban and more rural communities. For example, my older brother, he lives in a very small town in the UK. And so there's already an ideological shift between those who live in maybe a city like London and a city like my brothers. But when I went there, somebody who grew up and works in one of the biggest major Metropolitan cities in the entire world has no small town experience
