Viewing the past with 'rose-tinted' glasses..

article image placeholderRemembering the past...
I just had to talk about this here, so I'd like to know what your thoughts are. Do you agree that sometimes the past does feel more pleasant and less stressful than the present? Even if that really isn't the case? Bye

Were the good old days really all that 'good'?

And then it made me realize perhaps this way of editing out our memories is a coping mechanism that we sometimes resort to while dealing with uncertainty. Maybe not. I really don't know. But I must thank you for not just passing this over and sharing your views on this. Thank you

Losses and Gains

We learnt about hierarchy in the pecking order and who was in charge and who led the group and what to do in a situation that was a challenge. How did you figure that out? These grow you as a person. And I think kids miss out on this sometimes in some countries and somehow and circumstances. I think this is more prevalent nowadays, so I think we've lost some freedoms and we've gained some freedoms. So it's a mixed bag

Hey Georgie, I'm sorry I'm a bit late in my response. I seem to have missed this notification for your reply somehow. So what you said about kids having the freedom back then to run and play outside for ours is so true. Back then, playing outside was all we did. We knew all other families in the neighborhood. The kids would all just get together and roam around. We knew whose backyards were safe to play and who's to avoid

Relation to the past 1) for oneself 2) to communicate our "wisdom"...

So this was a nice basis to have a kind of a nest, a large nest, as it were inside the community, not only the family, the small family as a nest, but a larger community of allies or allied families. And I would say that the basic thing of greeting people in the street and the people looking at each other is something I regret

Leisure, now a luxury

Hey, Ramya, I thought I had responded to this well and then realized I haven't because I had formulated a response in my head because the minute you said memories and I, you know, sort of revisited mine. And you said grandfather other. And in my case as well, my grandfather was a very important part of my childhood growing up. Yours. And I sort of find comfort in revisiting memories of summer holidays spent with him and my grandma
