The Crown: Creative freedom taken to the extreme?

article image placeholderThe Crown: Ex-royal press secretary Dickie Arbiter criticises 'hatchet job'
While many of us do verify facts before buying into a thought or a story, there is also an entire generation, a younger generation learning their history not just in classrooms but through TV, podcasts, documentaries and movies. And to them, it just might be hard to fathom where facts end and fiction begins. While I'm all for artistic freedom, I don't think perhaps the Crown has gone a bit far in stringing together bits of facts in a largely fabricated narrative

I see it as Entertainment not fact https://s.swell.life/SSIThzCNXXUKnQu

I think it's kind of they hang other coat on the hook of the fact, and then they embroider the outside of that coat with fiction. And like you said, they've done a fantastic job. It's beautifully produced, wonderfully acted, intelligently, scripted, it's compelling. So I don't think they've taken too much freedom. I think it's a TV show

Sad times we live in where common sense is taken for granted.

But in a fictional sense, they depict Africa as this really cool ally. And they're going against the Americans and the films, and it's just a whole different thing. But it just brings into the idea of art being its most sacred form. When you are just telling the truth as it is, the truth sometimes also doesn't reflect fact and the truth are two different things

"This may be hot!"

I've only seen one or two episodes of The Crown, but when it comes to anything like this, I'm always asking myself, you know, how much of this is true and how much of it isn't. And then I reach for my device and start doing a little research. But what this reminds me of of is like the fact that someone was lacking in common sense when they burnt themselves with McDonald's coffee

Just enjoy the show πŸ˜…πŸ‘Š @DBPardes Life story

And when I first make friends with people, there will be characters in my stories. And one of my friends said to me, hey, I was there in that story, and I was like, all right, who's s******* the story? And English people say that because it's like, you're not telling the story. I'm telling the story

Names & apologies

I feel like I've called people the wrong name. Like literally called people the wrong name. Sorry, but when you have a name on your moniker, your handle. That's not your other name. I get confused. I'm sorry if I called anyone the wrong name. How's that for shaking the story

Hey, Georgie, D. I heard you reply and was, you know, reminded of the argument I had with my mom for, you know, getting that famous Diana haircut. That was an intense one. By the way, I'm not pro Royal either, but I do love the way the show depicts how the monarchy functions as a part of the government and sits in the country's collective consciousness

George D. Thank you for the link. I bookmarked it. I'll probably be watching it tonight, and maybe I'll be back tomorrow on this thread to share my views, and perhaps later we could all have a background can forth on that one as well
