Racism:Hollywood & The Little Mermaid

article image placeholderUploaded by @Professor42
Professor 42. Happy Sunday. And the topic that could be deemed offensive going to be some language. So language advisory. Because when I attend tend to talk about things that are frustrating to me. I tend to swear because that's what my feelings are at the moment. I want to talk about racism. I want to talk about Hollywood and the topic that sort of inspired the swell, which is Ariel, the black mermaid

Outrage over a black mermaid? Minor rant language advisory

In the past, while Stanley came out, I think he did an interview. I guess a fan asked him. He said some s*** like, hey, would we ever see a white panther? And Stanley was like, no, that'll never happen. The guy was like, well, why not? We have other characters of different like spiderman has Miles Morales, different counterparts played by different races. And Stanley's answer to that was because black panther was created for black Americans

And instead of all the movies being about Ariel, each girl has her own movie and each girl is the star. Each mermaid is the star. It's really outrageous that people are so mad about Ariel herself becoming not even becoming anything, just being played by a woman whose skin is a different color than the original Little Mermaid

And that's a dicey thing to say. Being a white male myself, I can get a lot of backlash and I don't mean to step in any toes or offend anybody in any way, but there's so much more to connect on when it comes to human to human interaction than just skin tone. I mean, I couldn't even sit here and list it all. It would be impossible to

Hey, professor 42, this is JL, and I wanted to jump in on your swell. I commented on another person swell about people being upset about the change in the color of the character. And then I know you did an addition to this post about there are race specific characters for certain movies or movies made for certain cultures

It's very sad and unfortunate and a conversation that really deserves its own what do you call that segment of the news every single day? To remind people how racism, prejudice destroy lives, and the superiority complex is real, and in order to fix it, we must address it
