Journeys, Destinations - which person are you?

article image placeholderUploaded by @realbriggster
So I guess that's something that I wanted to throw out there to you all like, do you feel like you're a journey person? Journeys, journeys, journeys, journeys, destinations. Which person are better than the other? Do you disagree? Like, maybe destinations are important and the journey is great, but you got to just achieve whatever it is at the end of that destination. Or maybe you might agree with me. Like the journey is important

We journey inbetween destinations.

Whenever it hits into the ice, that is the destination and the strength or the fatigue that you're experiencing with the hunger, with the thirst. That is the journey

There might be one destination, but there are different ways to get there and different things you learn along the way. So I think both of them are important, and both of them are very important, but in different ways. And the journey is harder than the destination. The journey requires more work. I don't know if I'm a journey person or a destination person yet I think I'm more of a journey person because there's a lot of self improvement that's goes into it

Or do we focus on the process that students experience in their art making and all of the things that they acquire along the way? So this notion of journey versus destination is definitely a universal human debate, and I think that both are very important, but the greatest learning comes through the journey itself. So that's kind of my relationship to it, and I definitely will spend a little more time time thinking about this notion

Hi Kim, thank you so much for that additional perspective. Goals being a trap. I never thought about it, but that actually makes sense because just from what you said, you focus on that and then you no longer see other options, which could also be available or in addition to and also, I think too, I know for me once I watch you make a goal, you also feel very locked into it sometimes and any kind of change might feel like failure
