Disney Vs. Florida

article image placeholderFlorida lawmakers have stripped Disney of special tax status
I'm also seeing free markets talking about free markets. There should be free markets and that Disney should not be enjoying any special status. There's a lot of hypocrisy going in, and if I'm missing any, please let me know. The second thing that's really surprising me here is that this moved very quickly and all because Disney was criticizing DeSantis and the don't say Gay bill

I think there is a case here to be made by Disney that this was an act of retaliation, just like people filed lawsuits against companies saying I was fired as an act of retaliation for speaking up my mind. I think Disney has a case here that should go all the way to the Supreme Court. And I think that this is just going to be a landmark case in the United States. It goes towards, I think, fundamental free speech rights

As Sudha. I always have difficulty understanding free speech and especially in the United States. Could you just tell me what you mean by saying this is to do with free speech? As far as I know, Disney, the company spokesperson on the company's behalf or whatever, said something, and the governor or the legislature in Florida, I did something. So how is free speech being affected? Disney was able to say what it wanted to say

@omaniblog

It expressed its point of view and as retaliation for expressing their point of view. The government is removing particular privilege that it had, according to Disney, about 40 years ago. So it's a direct retaliation against the so called vocal of Disney, which is basically threatening anybody else in the state of Florida and showing them that if you were to voice dissent against the government, then you need to be ready for retaliation. And that basically strips the whole constitutional right of freedom of speech

Phil, I just wanted to add this link. I happened to read it yesterday. So apparently when a special district is dissolved, the debt held by the district that moves over to the assuming party, in this case the taxpayers. And it's apparently a billion dollars or so in debt. And Disney apparently pays taxes itself, 53 million a year to service the debt that will go away
