Has LinkedIN outlived its usefulness?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Phil
I don't see as many posts on there of the things that I like to see the updates, what's going on, people getting new jobs, people updating us on what they're doing. I don't see those as much as I used to, and I really wish that those would come back, but otherwise, I still am going to check it every day

I say no, but I'm seeing a lot of posts that say otherwise.

My LinkedIn thoughts

But not a get rich scheme, because that's not what I'm about, but just something short and sweet and something like that. As far as a lot of salespeople, it just frustrates me. I'll be very honest. Every contact I get is about, oh, I can make your business, blah, blah, blah. It's all dental, like, oh, I can get you so many patients. Or it is like something digital something

Brand new to LinkedIn @Phil

Hey, Phil, thanks for making this topic. So recently, as part of an assignment for Professionalism in my intro to programming class, I was required to make a LinkedIn account. Now I don't really know much about LinkedIn. I literally just got onto the platform. I uploaded a photo, a few other things. I'm not really sure what to do with it. I mean, I kind of linked myself to my current boss, and that's about it

@bookishpodcast @Nic572 A resume and a rolodex

And if you read the comments to those posts, it's usually a chorus of get this s*** over to Facebook. This doesn't belong here. And I appreciate that because I really want it to keep it professional. And if you're just beginning, I would say link up to as many professionals or people that you met in school or in business. Everybody that you come into contact with. I recommend connecting to and you kind of build

@Phil, @Nic572 LinkedIn bots? The professional Facebook!

So whatever you're posting is all about your profession and or where you want your career to go. And so, like, for example, I want to be a professional speaker. So I will hopefully down the road post videos of myself speaking and little snippets here and there. And I'll post that to LinkedIn because there are headhunters there, whatever. If someone sees it, they're like, oh, this is what she looks like. This is what she sounds like

Hey, Shahnaz, I'm posting a link to an article about LinkedIn, bots and fake accounts that they have gotten rid of. And there's another article that I'm looking for that now I can't find, but had talked about some people that were advertising on LinkedIn, or they had done a post or an ad, and the results were coming back that they were getting so many hits. But then when they dug into the hits and looked at the data, they were not true hits

@Phil Thanks for sharing

Hey, Phil, thanks for that article. That was very interesting. Like I'd known other robots, but I didn't know what they did or how they operated. And that is really fascinating, you know, to look into, you know, somewhere else with a similar profile and to also look to see how much personal information they have out and stock photos. Oh, my gosh, yes. So much to look into. Great article. Thanks for sharing. And I'll catch you later

#linkedin

People are posting things that aren't related to what it generally was presented as, which is fine, but it takes away from its offering. So it's become more like Facebook than the professional site that started off as and the other thing it's hard to say because Microsoft purchased it, and they're still early in how they're going to integrate it with Office 365 or Outlook or their VR offerings
