Black Friday: A peak behind the curtain

And for anybody who's had to take a call at the Thanksgiving table, this is really for them. I wanted to tell their story and that it's not easy working for a retail company. Black Friday carries a lot of pressure with it. And Black Friday, by its definition, was the first day that the bookkeepers stopped using red ink and started using black ink. So you actually crossed over the threshold of being profitable on that day. So it's a huge day for all retailers

What's it like to work for a retail company on Black Friday?

When I was growing up, I used to go to launches for things a lot. When Star Wars toys came out, I used to go to the launches at Toys R US. I remember when the Wii came out, I camped out at Target and those were fine. I'm sure it was stressful at times for the workers to a similar degree, but nothing like Black Friday. And so I've tried to get my shopping done a bit in advance

Just an observer here! Only online for me!

I've never been a big person that went out on Thanksgiving night or on Black Friday. I'm not big on crowds, and Friday always has a pretty full slate of sports. So I'm totally content on staying in, and I most certainly will do that again this year. I won't be going out at all
