Why Did You Stop Your Podcast?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Phil
We are in a golden age of audio right now and podcast listening is on the rise and never been higher. We are projected to have 100 million podcast listeners in the United States by 2024. We have seen 75% of the US population listening to spoken word on audio each month and we have seen increase of 278% from 2014 to 2021 and share of time spent listening to spoken word on a mobile device

Swell is changing the equation for podcasters.

I guess they call it pod fade

Now, the only long podcast I listen to, this Guy Kawasaki's podcast, remarkable People, because it's just remarkable content. And I always pick up one or two really good ideas. So as it is right now, I'm just walking back and forth to the post office. And so I had some time. I thought, I wonder what's going on as well. So just trying to put my thinking cap on

You got to quote David and Arnold. But, yeah, you have to be consistent. And I haven't given up yet, although I have wanted to. I have revented revamped changed the name, the format, at least twice. So you got to be willing to endure. And you don't get to see you see the immediate impact on a podcast. If you're on Spotify or Apple, you don't know. You really don't know

It feels like I have all the time in the world, but with that podcast, seeing that microphone in front of me, putting those headphones on, pressing record on the reaper, and then once it's done and have my sound in their background music, it's a lot more layers to it, to where I start to think of time. And it takes a while for me to get in that mood and that energy for a podcast

I need something that's more informal, that doesn't require me to sit in front of the computer or the microphone and have to write out stuff, have the intro, the outro and all of that. It may not seem like a lot of work for some people, but for me, my regular job already consumes a lot of my time already, and I just really want to be a little more informal so I can appreciate swell and hopefully I can get on here more and make more Swells

Grassroots challenge @Phil

People have been receiving going to a deluge of free social media, greetings forwards, WhatsApp, jokes, what have you. And so it has kind of almost negated the intelligent forward as it was. Hey, did you know I heard something like this? If you heard this, you were talking something around these lines that it might make sense to you. Those kind of conversations are valuable, but they are very few and far in between

And I was so nervous about being a part of a live show but it absolutely turned into something very engaging and interesting and I appreciated that added level of in the moment. This is how the words you are saying impact me or resonate or make sense or don't make sense. I liked that direct in the moment just in time feedback versus you have the static podcast that plays, what, for an hour? 2 hours, hour and a half. And there's no engagement
