Mikaela Shiffrin is Still Amazing

article image placeholderUploaded by @Phil
One of the best athletes. Mikayla Schifrin is one of the most recognizable US athletes in these Winter Olympics. Unfortunately, yesterday she crashed for the second time in as many days in her two Olympic events. She won two gold medals in prior Olympics, however, and this year she was expected to do very well. And within 15 seconds combined, 15 seconds. It was 10 seconds yesterday, 5 seconds today on the course. And she's out. And part of this is skiing

Another reminder of how we need to be looking at the mental health of our young athletes

And I've seen a lot of people the Men's fears as well the other day just absolutely wipe out. And I don't think it was really their fault. I think it's a combination of a bunch of different things. Thanks. Curious to know if you've seen or heard any of this discussion

trial runs, artifical snow and wax

It's just got that kind of stickiness feel to it, and it's difficult. It's very difficult, and you want to have a different wax on your skis, and that's something that nobody really talked about. But having the right wax in your ski is just so critically important, and especially when you're talking about hundreds of a seconds being the difference between placings that wax becomes a huge factor
