Pretenders vs Contenders

article image placeholderUploaded by @Phil
And I think it's time to take a look at who are the pretenders and who are the contenders in this College football season. I think we can start to make an assessment of who might be completely overrated and soon to drop out of the top 25 and certainly out of the top 25 by the end of the season

Week # 4 brings 16 undefeated teams in the top 25. Who's for real? Who isn't? We take a look!

9: Clemson. Pretenders

Alright. Let's start with the number nine Clemson Tigers, who kind of got dominated by the Georgia Bulldogs and haven't looked as good since. What they struggle with doing is getting the ball all in the end zone. And with DJ kind of struggling quarterback, this team has a lot of question marks going in into the rest of the season. If you look at their schedule, it's a cakewalk. They don't play anybody ranked as of now

10: OSU. Contender

Alright, let's get to the number ten ranked team B. Ohio State, Buckeyes and these buckets. They have too many defensive struggles. Teams can run on them all day in this Big Ten conference. There's some d*** good running backs in this League, and Ohio Spade has to face them. Kenneth Walker, Blake, Corn Hasan Haskins just a few

11: Notre Dame. The biggest fraud of all!

It's a big game. It's honestly a must win for both teams. There's a must win game every week, but both these teams have been a little lackluster. But whoever wins this game has a chance to brighten their season and brighten a spot into maybe the Couch football playoff. But through it all, Wisconsin, Notre Dame is a fraud and they are pretending

Check out my page to see teams 8-5 to see where they fall

Hello, everyone. I'm just gonna let you know to see teams eight through five. I talked about them over on my page. I talked about Cincinnati, Texas A and M. Penn State and Iowa. What, whether I think they're contenders or pretenders. And then tomorrow I'll go over teams one through four. That includes Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and Oklahoma. So check out my page today for the two part series I have over there on Cincinnati, Texas

I do agree with you. I think Notre Dame is a fraud. I think Cincinnati will beat them in two weeks when Cincinnati and Notre Dame play. So I think Notre Dame is a fraud. I don't think they're that great. They're always, you know, hyped up to be a good team. And then and once they play good competition, they kind of fall. So I think you're exactly right on this. Notre Dame is a pretender

Wisconsin will expose Notre Dame

You know, I'm in complete agreement with Notre Dame, but it's not, you know, because they struggled the past two weeks or past three weeks. Actually, I look at Coach Kelly teams and Coach Kelly teams last year, he did enough to get by, and I give him them all the credit in the world. I also give him credit. I think the stat that I saw was that since 2016, they have not lost to a team that has finished under 500

Three undefeated games this weekend outside the top 25

I mentioned that there were 16 undefeated teams in the top 25. There's also 19 undefeated teams outside the top 25, and I wanted to spend a little time diving into some of these teams. And as luck would have it, we have three games this weekend where undefeated teams face each other, and I think we'll get to know exactly who's a pretender and contender in their own conferences by these games this weekend

Five undefeated teams with major tests thus weekend

Second, staying in the ACC, Boston College takes on Missouri and Boston College's offense did not look great last week and they need to get better if they're going to take on a team like Missouri. Missouri comes into Boston College. Missouri is favored and I expect BC to really struggle in this game and I think they're going to struggle in the ACC

Ole Miss: Believe the Hype!

This team can March down the field in a snap of the eye or blink of the eye. I'm very high on these old Ms rebels, and as you should be, too, I think next week I'm going to look at the money line against Bama. If you watch them against Florida. Bama kind of struggled against a run. With these great running backs. They have and hit the holes hard

Coastal Carolina and Wisconsin

People kind of dogged them a little bit. That was not an easy game for them. Transitioning from dismantling of a Big Twelve opponent at home going on the road to Buffalo. Buffalo is not a bad football team. That was a good enough win for them. And looking at the rest of their schedule, I just don't know what to even call the hardest game they've got left. Maybe Georgia Southern in November

Michigan/Michigan State - crash course for October?

They've got Rutgers at home, which I think that they'll win that game, but it's not going to be as easy as it sounds. Rutgers looks a lot better this year than they have in the past. Then they go on the road to Wisconsin, which, as I previously noted, we're going to find out a little bit about Wisconsin this weekend. I expect Wisconsin to take care of Notre Dame. I'll reiterate that again, but should they not?

North Carolina - still ranked from the preseason. Fresno State - darling?

They've already played the toughest games on their schedule, so provided they don't drop one that they shouldn't, we'll probably be talking about this team late in the season with advantageous, Bull placing or something of the like, if they go through and maybe they lose a home game to Boise. Or maybe they go on the road, lose the San Jose State. Those things could still happen

Tigers, Bruins, and Wildcats - oh my!

I do think that the game against Penn State didn't really tell us that they are not somebody to be taken seriously. I think they played a good game. The outcome obviously wasn't what they wanted, but it's definitely somebody had to lose the game. We'll put it that way. Number 24 UCLA. I am honestly not sure what to make of them at this point. I think that the game against Fresno State is probably pretty indicative of what we're going to see out of them

UW, coastal and Liberty

Tony, I think you're exactly right with Wisconsin, even if they win this game against Notre Dame, which we think is going to happen, that they'll expose Notre Dame, I'm not ready to put them in the contender spot either. And mainly, what I want to see is mistake free football by Wisconsin constant and do that consistently

UNC lines may be overinflated

So glad to hear you put North Carolina as a pretender. When Mitch asked who will be the first teams to drop out of the top ten? Mitch mentioned Notre Dame, which was correct. I mentioned North Carolina, and the reason was simple. I thought, Sam, how was great, but I thought the public is really kind of overvaluing this team because of somehow and not paying enough attention to the people that they lost both on defense and offense

Iowa State: Fraud

Alright. Let's take a look at Iowa State in Iowa State. With the Big Twelve, you can always make a case that a Big Twelve team is going to get into the turn the College Football Playoff. But with Iowa State losing the Iowa, I think it dampers their chance significantly because they had a prime time game early in the season to pick up a big home win against a Big Ten opponent and in state rival. And they didn't get it done

They are a pretender 100% agree. Now, can they still make a BCS ball? Absolutely. As you mentioned. Absolutely. Well, heck, they did it after losing three times last year. So anything is possible from that standpoint. And I do expect them to win some big twelve games. They are a team. Matt Campbell does tend to have teams that perform better as the year goes on. So I fully expect that to continue this year. But, man, they are pretender

Boston College!

They're hosting Missouri better team than what they've been facing, but I do think that they're going to take care of business at home. Missouri is actually favored in the game, but I'm taking the home team there. We'll touch on that closer to Saturday, most likely, but nonetheless, like Boston College to keep rolling this year, we'll see how that plays out for me

You called BC!

So I do think that they can bring a bruising, very physical type of game to the ACC and do very well because I think the rest of the League is more finesse and you may be onto something. I think we're going to find out a lot this weekend. This is going to be Missouri's second road game in two weeks. And you may be right here. This one is going to be fun to watch. Absolutely
