Head Coach fired for not getting Covid vaccine

article image placeholderEverything you need to know about Nick Rolovich
He was making over $3 million a year, and he had a contract through 2025. So he walked away from anywhere from twelve to $15 million today by refusing to take the COVID vaccine. Now, I know there's other companies that have been doing the vaccine mandate and firing people for failing to comply. I haven't seen one that is as high profile as this right here. This is definitely a high profile firing. Like I said, I'm still in shock over it

So this is a very interesting situation. At my school. They mandated everyone had to get it. But you could apply for a religious exemption. And to be honest with you, I know a lot of people applied for it, and they are handing these things out, like their coupons. Honestly, you could get it. You could have say anything from what my friends told me. They said, I just don't want to get it. And I was going to apply for the religious exemption

@Phil Wow!!

And I don't know what that's like either. My job is I work at a seminary and we're going to be a vaccinated school. So everybody pretty much has November 5 to be vaccinated. And there are a few people who I know won't. So I'm wondering, are they going to be, like, fired? Because that's the language. You must be vaccinated. So I'm not sure what's going to happen with them

I just don't get it! @PKBriggs, @mitchyro99

And to me, that really doesn't make sense because I know people that aren't taking the vaccine for one reason or another, and I know one that is facing a mandate, and she has a history of blood clots in the family. Her mom got the vaccine, and I think it was J and J and was one of the ones that got blood clots as a result. And so her physician has recommended not to get the vaccine

So this is a really strange one to me. And I have to think that a lot of the decisionmaking that is happening here is being informed by maybe communities or circles of friends, political groups that this guy and his staff are affiliated with. I mean, that's where you tend to get your information if you're making certain decisions that are this major, like you said, it would take a lot to walk away from $15 million

Weird times, for sure @Phil

It's not just for ourselves, but for people that can't get the vaccine is to maintain as much community protection as possible around our communities. This is definitely a move that I wouldn't make. I think you're right on him trying to Bluff his way out of it. I think you hit on the main point, and I don't know his politics, but the issue, regardless of your politics, has become political and pandemics are not political science should have never been turned into politics

@tonymo State Mandate I believe

Tony, from what I've read, and from what I understand, this didn't have anything to do with any sort of federal oversight, but it was a proclamation by the governor of the state of Washington earlier this year. And from what I've read, the interesting thing that I found was that the exemption process when you file for an exemption of not taking the vaccine, it is at least in the state of Washington that's reviewed by a two person panel who reviews the exemption blindly
