I've been turned down a lot with writing children's books. But anyway, I went ahead and opened it because in the back of my mind I thought, hey, Deb, you're glutton for punishment. Anyway, and the email said that they really did like my story and they wanted to publish it as a standalone book. Wow. So at 230 in the morning, I live out in the country, by the way. I ran outside and I laughed and I cried

I'm also a farmer, and I have goats and chickens and nine dogs and the whole array of farm animals. I live on this small farm called triangle Acres out here in Oklahoma, right at the edge of Arkansas. So I'm kind of in the shadow of the Ozarks, and it's a beautiful area, and I peace and quiet, and I love it. I'm also an author. From time to time, I like to write, and that's about it

I don't think I was anywhere near that number, but it certainly felt like it. In fact, at one point, I thought I had enough rejection slips to paper my bathroom wall, and I was on the verge of just shelving my writing career until you accepted Amelia. And that really put the fire back into me, and I am really grateful for that. In fact, you took several authors who might not have been published as

And it took me a very long time to edit and to go over it with the authors and teach them how to write. But I can teach mechanics, I can teach you how to write. But that gift of storytelling is something that you come with

We may not be able to control the life events we go through or life events that affect us, but we can choose how we handle them and how we get through them. So that's why that series is my favorite, because it does come from a very deep place inside of me, because it is my own life. Now, in my fiction world, I have a lot of books that are my favorite for different reasons

I don't have any time to get her a bed or someplace else. So she wound up having four puppies. Cutest darn little things you ever saw. And so I always tease him about this dog. Oh, she's not pregnant. I watched her, so. Well, I'm sure glad you're not a chaperone for a high school dance or something as well as you watch the stock. So we now have nine dogs, and all nine of them live in the house
