November 24th, 1859: Darwin’s "On the Origin of Species" is published
On this day, over 160 years ago, Darwin published a book that would go on to be considered one of the foundational works of modern scientific literature on the origin of species is considered by the scientific community to be the world's introduction to the idea of evolutionary biology. Darwin used research he had gathered over the years and in various locations, most famously the Galapagos Islands, to assert that organisms evolve over time through natural selection
