The Donut King

article image placeholderUploaded by @ondocumentary
The Donut King is a documentary by filmmaker and cinematographer Alice Goo. It tells the story about a Cambodian refugee named Ted Noy, lovingly referred to as Uncle Ted, and how he started from nothing to build a donut nut Empire while simultaneously supporting his fellow Cambodian immigrants and refugees in Los Angeles. The film uses intimate interviews, beautiful cinematography and tons of mouthwatering shots of doughnuts that make you want to get right up and swing by a donut shop and then come back and finish the film. The film is engrossing

This is so serendipitous. I just heard Alice speak at south by Southwest, and we had a quick LinkedIn conversation about her work because I'm a big fan and I'm going to try to invite her onto this conversation so that you and her can talk. Let's see if that works. I'll send you the link and hopefully you guys will have a great conversation together and more people will join in. I so hold and let's see what happens

Hey, appreciate the recommendation. I feel like I struggle a lot of times to settle on a documentary, to watch on a streaming service just because I feel like there are plenty that I don't end up enjoying. So anytime I get a recommendation like this, it immediately lead goes on my list. So thank you very much. I'll let you know what I think once I watch it
