Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones jr

I think they're scheduled to fight September 12, I believe. And I'll be honest, I'm going to be tuning in. I want to see what these two guys have to offer and what you're going to do in the ring. They've both been very entertaining during the courses of their careers. Mike Texas had great punching power in his heyday, and Roy Jones Jr. Was always a very entertaining watcher to fight. He always liked the pawn and showing the ring

Not sure about PPV

It was the second fight with Tarver. He beat him the first time, but the second fight with Tarver kind of started that downfall, and he lost to Glenn Johnson, who is one of my all time favorites. I love that guy. And then he lost to Tarver again, had a couple of wins, and I thought he should have hung it up after Joe Kelzaki. I thought Joe Kozaki kind of showed the world that Roy just didn't have any speed anymore

This fight should actually happen years ago, probably about 1510 years ago, when Roy went to heavy weight. But I think he knew better back then, but I'll tune in. I'll pay to watch it. I can't wait to see it

Okay, Phil, if that's your real name, anyhow Roy Jones Jr. Would have whipped Mike Tyson's a** in his prime. Those quick hands and quick reactions would have kept Tyson? Snip bag. I know there's a bit of a weight differential, but even so, Roy Jones Jr. Would have just whipped him. As for fighters being washed up, coming back, you forgot about my boy George Foreman. Guy came back and was good

Well, I gotta disagree with that, boffin. I hope I said your name right? I don't see any scenario. Besides, maybe right now with Roy Jones owns beats Mike Tyson. Definitely not in his prime. You match both of them up in their primes. That's a joke. That's not even a fight because Roy doesn't have enough to keep Mike off of him. He wouldn't be able to keep him off, and he would get knocked out

Who are all the great fighters that Mike Tyson beat? Who are they? Everybody that he ever had to fight that was any good ended up beating them. People said the same thing you're saying about Roy Jones Jr. About a Vander Holyfield is the exact same thing. Now June was a little bit smaller, but he's way quicker than a Vander Holyfield and a Van der Holyfield handled Tyson twice

Exhibition = no score kept. In their primes they were 50lb apart

Even after over 30 professional bouts, he still seems rodomy. He's just not an accurate puncher. He has devastating power when he lands, but he looks for that one blow to knock out. And he can be very inaccurate in his punches. And I don't see him as a very good boxer, but power to him for getting this far. And as a person, I think he's a fantastic person, but he's just too inaccurate of a puncher for me

But the one thing Holyfield has that Roy lacks in a fight with somebody as big as Mike is the ability to keep him off of you. Roy does not have that. Never would have had that even in his prime. There's no way he's keeping Mike off of him. He would have to fight the most perfect fight without Mike getting them into a corner or getting into a clinch. Or he would have to avoid all of that

Now, Tyson, on the other hand, I mean, if I look at his ledger and I just pulled it up, he fought Mitch Blood Green before he won the title. That's a favorite boxer of mine. There's a famous video of Mitch before that fight. But then Razor Ruddock and Bone Crusher Smith. These guys were solid fighters at the time. And also he beat Larry Holmes, Frank Bruno. Those are two legit Champions. Larry Holmes is a hall of Famer

It's kind of why he gained weight and tried to go up. The big problem he would have obviously against Tyson is just the weight. He wasn't the same fighter as a heavyweight as he was when he was a lighter. Still, the most entertaining fighter that I've ever watched

Bhop win definitely the best win

Just a brilliant, brilliant technician that boxers were just never the same from and the three I can think of Antonio Tarver, Kelly Pavlich and especially Tito Trinidad. I mean, these guys were just never the same after fighting Hopkins, and I think there were some others, but those three come to mind. Yeah, you're right. That is the most impressive. But I think overall ledger in their prime, like you said, you can't hold Roy accountable

@m Gotta have that power

I mean, it's really if you're going to go to a certain level in boxing, you absolutely need to have that. It's just a must. And I'm glad you said that. And I did want to. I forgot I wanted to highlight that. So thank you for that

In their prime its Tyson all the way, one amiddle weight one a heavyweight

I'm interested in this fight. I don't care. It's an exhibition site. I'm happy to watch it just to see these guys in the ring. I don't even care if they hit each other. They can dance. It's an exhibition. I just want to see them. It's good. It's good for everybody. It's just good all round, Tyson. I've got to put him up there, man

And that's why I don't understand why George doesn't get more respect as being one of the top three top four heavyweight Champions in history. Because who else do you know that could have beat two hall of Fame fighters Annihilate, two hall of Fame fighters and Ken Norton all time greats. Not just hall of Famers all time greats. Blasted both of them out in two rounds of peace. He could have beat both of them in the same day

Jones didn't fight everyone

And Ben came into the sound of Big Ben, and he was on a mission that night and McLennan was a h*** of a fighter. He was a good boxer with power. I remember he knocked Bent out of the ring in the first round. Maybe that fight should have been stopped. Of course it should have been stopped. It would have been better for everybody if it had been stopped

Craig Miller

But it does seem that he was maybe ducking Tyson a little bit because he didn't want to put himself in a situation, whereas an older guy, he'd take one flush as much as I love Holiday holefield didn't hit like Tyson hit. And I'm trying to think if foreign fought anybody that was known as a puncher, like in the sense that Tyson was or a young George Foreman was or Ken Norton, I just don't think he did, but I do have to agree with you
@MarkR
Mark Francis Rahaman
@MarkR · 2:24

You're most probably right about Norton and Tyson

Uneven years old. Did he get blasted out? But when he was young, even husiefield took a few rounds and even bust Douglas took a few rounds of beating, putting a real beating on Tyson before it, before he got stopped or got knocked out. But, yeah, I have to agree that area was fantastic. Norton and Fraser beast the fights heavy Valley, both of them amazing. You got early shavers in there and Larry Holmes coming later

You can name any of them who thinks they're going to just walk in on George and stand toe to toe and be a short heavyweight. A little heavyweight. That like Rocky Marciano. He's barely cracking. He's not even £190. It's not going to happen. You're going to get shellacked. George is going to hurt you. It's not even going to be a fight. It's going to be one guy. Tyson throwing a few punches at George

Love this strong take on Foreman and Tyson, even when Forman was older. And I think the best support for it is like he said about Norton and Fraser. I mean, those guys, they're not exactly the same type of fighter as Tyson, but still guys that hit really hard and were aggressive and look what Forman did to them. I mean, just annihilated them. Those are not the types of fighters that would beat Foreman

I'm sure you guys have seen this, but there was a documentary done. It was done in the mid 90s. I think like 96. It was called When We Were Kings, and it was documentary at a lead up into the fight between Ali and Razor in Zionir. If you haven't seen it, I can't recommend it more highly enough. And you really see just how menacing a young George Foreman actually was. And if you haven't seen this, I mean, stop everything

When we were Kings!

When we Were King's, Man is one of the greatest films ever. I saw it in the cinema. Documentary movies. It won an Oscar. I have a whole alley story. In fact, I'm going to change my profile picture. Yeah

He knocks guys out right through the guard. You hold your hands up, he hits you on top of the guard. The punch goes right through the guard, knocks you out. Anyway, I've seen him do it. But going back to the original topic of Mike and Roy in their primes, it's not even a contest. It's really not now. I'm not going to just totally dismiss Roy, because in their primes, the speed and the athletic ability was retarded

I mean, you just got to see the film. The knockouts were just brutal. It was brutal. And I don't think I'm not sure if George beats Muhammad Ali. If they fight again. I'm not or if he beats him or he just comes up with another trick to outsmart him again. I don't know, because it's not based on physical ability. When those two fight, it's all about who can out think the other one

I got Mike. #cannabis

So I got Tyson. And the reason I got Tyson is because, you know, it's f****** Mike Tyson, dude, he's anyway. Now what I'm saying is he he smokes weed. He smokes a lot of fish f****** weed. And I think that's going to work to his advantage
