Living a Sustainable Life as a Broke College Student

article image placeholderUploaded by @Noalily
You can't control everybody's life and their actions and their routines. But it's also just really crazy to see how quickly we go through paper towels and plastic utensils. And for me, it's been something that I've been struggling with a little bit because I can control my own actions. But in the end, I can't control what everyone else is doing. And it's really frustrating when you're trying to be sustainable

How do you practice sustainability?

Sustainability as a student!

And I feel like recently I've been a really, really bad what we call example of what I'm studying because I definitely agree that living in a big house, it is just so much easier to instead of doing, like, 65 dishes, it's easier to just put out paper plates or the same thing with plastic cups and stuff like that at parties. I feel that it's very easy to be non sustainable, and I think that I personally have become pretty compliant with that

No straws + thrifting

But my sons, who are in College, they buy used clothing, consignment stores, vintage shops and thrift and resale stores. So that is one way to extend the life of fashion. And my thought for the day is that College students, on average, have a lower carbon footprint than the average American because they are typically living in group situations near campus

@Tim

I love that you brought up this point broke College student having a lower carbon footprint because most College students aren't driving or even people who do have cars up. Other campuses typically drive less just because everything is within within everything that you need is very accessible and within the vicinity of their home campus. So that makes me feel good about myself. Also, not that I have a car to go to College, but it makes me feel better about what I'm doing for the environment

I think with the how, how do you practice sustainability? That's just my take on it. I'd like to just like to recap what I said. How, how, how do you practice sustainability? The food I eat usually with treats or things that I usually don't eat every single day. And so that way that those foods I eat sustainably always and for groceries, it will depend on whatever I plan for that week or whatever I plan for that week

great topic! 🌳🌲🌿

As I've kind of grown into it a little more, I think I've found ways to be more sustainable. So I know that sounds like a kind of an easy answer, just like put more time into the products and thinking about the products you buy and making sure they're of high quality and of importance and usefulness to you. I think that would be my answer as far as practicing stability. So yeah, but obviously this is a really important topic, especially for College kids
