Self care is so important,. Let's talk about it

article image placeholderUploaded by @NLOFrank
It got to a stage where I was trying to fight everything at once and oh my goodness, that it was just so overwhelming and I was so burnt out and I see it a lot of conversations we have within my Transpiring network group is that people just burn out because we're just in the front line all the time. So I wanted to leave a post to get people thinking about self care. You might be really good at self care

Number one, restrictive negative social media exposure

So transphobic homophobic discriminatory comments in general are often either allowed or much more prevalent on the sites. And so anything that I might post, no matter how innocent, just being myself just celebrating queerness for its unique beauty, like unique beauty of humans. So I came off those platforms and I surrounded myself by platforms that actually raised me up. So one of them I use because I can really pick and choose who I am seeing on the platform. What is coming up on my newsfeed

So I now have a ten minute break in the morning at lunchtime afternoon and after work, and it's five to ten minutes where I step away from whatever I'm doing, from my work, from my writing, from checking social media, I make myself a drink and I lay off it and I do a meditation because that's what works for me

I have seen counselors and therapists before, and they said to me, what makes you feel good, what is your self care? And I'll say this that and the other. And then they'll say, okay, and how often are you doing that? And I'll say I'm not. And I've realized for myself that when I'm the most unwell or the most burnt out is when I stop doing things that are going to help me the most

You deserve love from you

All of these things can really add up sometimes and could be really easy to add to our probably already low self esteem because we've always been battle in a lifetime of trying to figure out who we are feeling wrong in our skin, maybe seeing things everywhere we go saying that being trans or queer or non binary or gender fluid or gay bi is wrong or somehow needs changing or as a phase

Please don't feel afraid to reach out

Number five, reach out. Some people are not talkers. Some people like to just go away, do some meditation, do some selfcare, and just remember, never, ever forget that you don't have to battle this alone. There are so many people in the world that share some of your experiences that want to hear from you. Want to help you, even if it's I'm having a rubbish time. I don't want to talk about the rubbish time

Please do share your ideas

And again, what kind of things do you find useful? Or do you think that other people might find useful? Please do share. I genuinely am really bored of my own voice and I love to hear from everyone I'd love to hear here from you. So do please add to this and let's create a selfcare package on square
