What makes you weird?

article image placeholderUploaded by @NLOFrank
I even once had a manager tell me that I was weird because I used to work in a children's home and I connected too much with the young people because all the other staff there were like, they wouldn't get involved with the kids. They wouldn't sit down and talk about what the kids were interested in. A lot of female members of stuff I was on shift with, refused to go out and play football with the kids and stuff because they didn't want to break their nails

I just be me or do me, as they say. And it doesn't fit within the normal realms of it doesn't fit in the norm. So therefore it becomes weird. But yeah, I think it's a great thing. I know you asked to list some of the things, but my trouble is, I don't think I'm weird. It's everything that I do is normal. Everyone else tells me I'm weird, so I'm not sure what example to give you

Hi Tasha. I wanted to chime in on this and first start off by saying that we are all unique and are our uniqueness is what separates us from other people. And I think honestly, if we were all the same, everything would be pretty boring. There's no variety whatsoever. There's no spice, if you will. And I wanted to also comment on your mentioning of your job where you mentioned you would connect with the children, which to me doesn't seem weird at all

Weird is Wonderful

It's just another extension of art, really. And that comes down to maybe my mannerisms and the way I live, people might find it quite particular and specific, but that's okay. And I embrace my weirdness, and I'm married to a weirdo, and I'm pretty sure I'm raising one, and I love it. And we've taken a trip to Portland and hope to do that again once things get safer

@soulcruzer

Actually, it's completely about perception, like we can be who we are. And in some circles, I'm considered weird for one reason that I wouldn't be another circle. So that was a really great point to make. Thank you so much for that. But yeah, I totally agree. I think weird is wonderful. And as I said in my original pace, actually, a lot of things that people Mark as me being weird, it's just like, what they mean is different

And in regards to that, it was because I was one of very few well, so I was in a team where there was only one male member of staff. The rest were female bodied, and all of the staff were younger than me. They were all very, quite similar. None of them really wanted to do anything that really the children were interested in. And I think some of them struggled to get to know the children better because they didn't really understand their interest

Hi, Jessica, thank you so much for your reply. It's really made me smile this whole post. Actually, I'm so glad that I posted it up because I've really enjoyed the responses and hearing from fellow widows. And I say that in a really affectionate way. But I'm so sorry that at one point in your life it got so bad that even police were involved. That sounds really horrendous

I tried to impart that on my students as much as possible, because you'd see similar struggles and a lot of them that we faced as kids. And if we could just embrace those things that make us different and embrace the things that make each other different, I think it will all be a bit more better off in the end

I'm really sorry that you were bullied, but I am so grateful and glad that you were able to see through that and see not only that you can't change who you are like, it's not your fault who you are, and you certainly shouldn't be sorry for being the unique individual that you are, because that's all we can really be. At the end of the day, there's only one of each of us in the world, and that's just how it is
