How Much of My Life Is For Public Consumption?

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
My parents don't want us putting their pictures on Facebook and social media, so we don't. But I definitely have two living parents healthy, retired. I just saw them yesterday. I love my parents, but do I have to put pictures of my family on Facebook so that everybody else can see that I have a loving family? Why are we doing this to people? Why are we putting this pressure on people to show and tell? To show and tell?

If you're not posting on social media, and I learned from my own experience, just getting off is you will see how many people try to interact with you because you'll have your social media presence of people that's just cheering you on the outside. And that's cool sometimes, but let me tell you, I will say that you will see who really coles about you once you take a step back on social media, you will see how many people reach out to you

Much as and as little as you want to share. Personally, when I kick up, I put in my notice to my landlord today because I'm buying a farm. You know what? When I'm out there, I'm going to flood social network with chickens and ducks and renovations, but my face will never appear again. Them I will be done. And that's just one of the many changes, is to get away from social media

And so when you don't get that attention, when your posts don't get those likes and stuff, it can make you feel as though you're not valuable, you're not seen, you're not impacting people, all that stuff. And so, yeah, it's amazing. Like you said, it can be a blessing and a hindrance, but it's amazing how social media can put us on this roller coaster ride of emotions

I don't feel like my life is one big photo collage of things to post on social media, so you won't think I'm lying about my life. And just like Jay was saying, I don't even care if people think I have a boring life anymore. It's like, I don't care if people on social media think I don't do nothing. I know what I do, and I don't really have to prove it. But yes, I love sharing pictures

I think social media has created an atmosphere world that has become toxic because people are doing things on there for likes and for shares. They're dressing weight, they're dressing, you know, provocative because they want to get likes and they want to get shares. It's feeding people who have low self esteem and feeding people who feel like they need to be liked. They're doing things that they wouldn't normally do just to get it

And I've gotten such positive feedback from those who are familiar with me, those who know me, and those who don't know me. I had someone just re share or they reposted something I had posted on Facebook, and they were just like, yes. Yes to all of this. Thank you so much. I look forward to your post. I know I don't comment or like on everything
