David’s Bridal is Filing Bankruptcy: Why?

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
But if we look at how weddings themselves have evolved over the years, weddings have become a lot more casual. People simply just don't really go for the wedding tux and the wedding gown like they used to. David's Bridal, of course they cater to the bride and they have all these beautiful gowns and the traditional white wedding dresses and different styles. But a lot of women nowadays just don't want that. They don't want the big poofy dresses with the sweetheart necklines and all that stuff

David’s Bridal seems to have been affected by all that you mentioned, and then some. Including leadership that lacked vision to pivot the company

But Radio Shack was the place where, when I was in high school, we would literally go there to buy electronic parts and we could build things, because that was part of my trade when I was in high school. And then they shifted pivoted to where they were more about kind of ready made. You can buy a speaker, you can buy a video camera. And of course, they would have cell phones. I remember buying my first print cell phone from a Radio Shack

If they expanded into those outlets, they may have had better success, because they weren't just focused on the bride, but they were focused on servicing the entire day and what they could do in that realm or offering I don't know

You still have some people that are they want the big wedding and if they can't have the wedding they want, like you said, they'll postpone it, but for the most part, yeah, David's Bridal, I guess they couldn't come up with some ideas of how to continue to profit in a changing wedding culture. That's too bad for them. I hate to see them go because they are kind of like an American tradition. But yeah, that's all it is

But if it's foolishness, I'm not even with it. But I can honestly say that my daughter is not even all about that. And she's the type of person that wouldn't even want a bunch of people out of her wedding. It'll probably be like 20 people, tops. And her fiance, being from Tanya, it would be the same. He's just kind of like a humble kind of brother

So David's Bridal, I guess they just failed to really see how the wedding culture has changed and maybe they were holding on to continuing traditional wedding stuff and weren't able to adapt and make that adjustment. So this was good. Thank you so much
