You’re Not Obligated to Be their friend on social media!

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
We would crack jokes on social media, and sometimes there were work related jokes. I mean, nothing major, but this coworker would go back and tell our managers what we were posting about on social media and that we were on social media and all this stuff. So the reason why I don't feel obligated to add people to my social media is because sometimes people tend to police your page

I have a bikini pick on social media. But I don't think that certain boundaries should be crossed. I know when I was at my first job, when I first had my manager, an older person was telling me that's not a good idea. You never want your managers or supervisors on your page like that. And I didn't really care to hear it. But now that I'm much older, I'm like, yeah, they had a point

So some of my life, if you don't like it, you don't have to be involved with it. And I keep that a little bit separate because that's my privacy, that's my business. They don't need to know everything at all. And sometimes we do see social media as an outlet. We want to express ourselves, and that's fine because I do it. But some people Larie not going to like it. And do I care if they like it or not?

Learn about it, lean in, seek understanding, have humble curiosity. That's my thing about my post now. So now I really don't care about all of those things. But in terms of followers, because I still work a corporate role and some of the people in my corporate role because they have looked me up. You know how people are nosy. And I see them following me on. IG I see it. I see them. I see when they look at my stories

So, yeah, when you make mistakes on social media, you learn lessons and you know how to move differently going forward when it comes to stuff like that. And so I've learned some hard lessons, and it's really changed the way I interact on social media. I barely comment on people's stuff. I rarely ever send out a friend request

Of course, as a follower of Christ, I will post my spiritual stuff. And yeah, I pretty much do that and I might post a few joke memes here and there, but I don't get real deep into posting on social media because I've gotten burnt a few times and I just don't fool with it too much anymore. Plus, it's gotten boring over the years. It's like Facebook ain't exciting and fun anymore

Because you guys feel like you all can just come and look at all my stuff to if you all think you all should hire me. No, that's not for you. What I post on my social media pages is for me. It's not for you. It does not tell you if I'm going to be a good employee or not. This is my life, and I'm going to live it however I see fit. So thank you so much. This was great

Nope, im not obligated or interested!!!

You're. Hi, Tanya. No, I am not obligated, and I am actually not even interested. There was a time when I thought it was pretty cool to make those kind of connections, quote, unquote, hoping they be friendships, but not at all. My page isn't public

They just want to connect with whomever they can so that they can photo dump, so they can talk about all the stuff they're doing, talk about their families, but they don't really connect. And so I agree with you. Some people are just looking for an audience. That's really it. They're just looking for an audience. And yeah, if you and I aren't really like that, then we don't need to be connected like that
