Are College Degrees becoming obselete?

article image placeholderUploaded by @MsColes77
Do we feel like as degree holders, we're competing with people who don't have these degrees because it's coming down to skills versus education? Where will the college degree end up in the next ten to 15 years? Will people still be enrolling in college in high numbers, or will we see college enrolling, enrollment declining as education becomes more decentralized? We're starting to see a cultural shift here, and I'm wondering if we're ready for it. Thank you for listening

Are degrees required to get good jobs anymore?

And again, I saw a lot of people opposing this, and of course, because they had spent thousands and thousands of dollars to get their degrees, I have a real life example to give you as well. So I was hired to be and this was many, many moons ago, so this is like, maybe 2008 or nine, I was hired to be a reading teacher, and they knew that I had only an associate's degree

You. Okay, so here's the second part. So in ancient times, you set at the foot of the master. You learned hands on work from them, right? So it didn't cost a thing, but just your time. You learn by practice, you learn by doing. And like you said, with business management, there are so many books on business management, and YouTube has lectures on business management. If you want to learn about what is it? Astronomy?

It just depends on our desire, creativity, and innovation of mind as to how one should succeed. And now, the other side to that is a college education, in terms of the degree that you can show for it does become quite necessary when you have to deal with government regulations and paperwork. For example, if someone in India wanted to migrate to Canada, having a college education definitely helps. The lack of one does not help at all

Hello. My name is Kelly. Girl, you don't touched on something that I've been thinking about because, listen, as far as a college degree, again, like you said, certain industries, you definitely need to have one because you're dealing with people livelihoods and lives. However, a lot of the other fields you don't need a degree for

Now, do I believe that there's something that I believe that higher education is absolutely important, but I don't believe that you need to necessarily get a four year degree unless you're field. Sorry, girl. I'm currently with my goddaughter right now, and she's, like, pulling on my headphones. So if I'm going in and out, I apologize for that

But, yeah, some organizations are big on degrees, and I think that's one reason why people still go to college, because there are just some organizations that you've got to have that degree. And yeah, but other than that, I mean, really, a lot of the stuff that you learn in college, you can go there's a YouTube channel called Khan Academy. Excuse me? And they teach a lot of math and science stuff

And that's really what college proves to most people more than anything, because college doesn't necessarily prove your skill set at all. I've seen people go into positions with a college degree and zero experience, but they had that degree. And some organizations are big on degrees. They want you to have that Master's, that Bachelor's. They want you to have that regardless of your skill set. And then you have some that are more about your skill set

@KNicole

We didn't have YouTube and Coursera and all these other outlets that you can go to to learn these various skill sets. So we had to go to college. I mean, that was really the only option we had, other than someone teaching us or being somebody's apprentice and having them teach us, but other than that, we had to go to school. And so I'm grateful now that kids don't have that pressure to go to college to get everything they need in terms of skills

@ilovelucee

Hey, SIS, thank you so much for responding. You're right, you don't need a four year degree nowadays. Especially nowadays. I don't think you ever really needed a four year degree to be successful because a lot of people, even in our grandparents generation, were able to build successful businesses and things without an advanced education
