It's not certain who the other three people in this painting are. The woman in the middle background, maybe a sister or the mother of the prodigal son. The seated man with a mustache, maybe an older servant. What I find interesting about this painting is how Brenbrand is able to include multiple emotions at once in his painting and how he conveyed the emotions of his subjects in his painting
